Using a natural experiment with bibliographic data from OpenAlex.org, I compared two Educational Psychology journals and their articles' reference lists: After introducing reference limits, the share of cited Asian/Black/Hispanic authors decreased, as argued by Lawson et al. (2025)

Reference limits can exacerbate biased citation behavior! In my current commentary article on the work of @kaileylawson.bsky.social, @brettmurpsych.bsky.social, et al. (2025), I provide empirical support for this thesis. Now published #OA @collabrapsychology.bsky.social 👉 doi.org/10.1525/coll...

@michaeljkane.bsky.social This reference check Shiny App is definitely a useful tool, but apparently the CrossRef citations aren't perfect:

Tomorrow at Online #SIPS2026, I'll be presenting a bibliometric case study of two top-tier psychology journals, indicating effects of reference limits on citation diversity. How to ensure both accuracy and inclusiveness in referencing? I'll pitch an idea. 🕗May 6 | 08:45 AM (EDT) | 14:45 (Berlin)

Papers on digitial prompting in education are hard to find using keyword-based literature search, so we applied a 🔍 Paper Identification Workflow 📜 that leverages 🛏️ sentence embeddings, 🌲random forests, and 🤖 the open #LLM Mixtral to exclude irrelevant articles and save time on manual screening 🦦
A flow chart of the paper identification workflow. Step 1: Manual Screening of Training Data. Step 2: Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing Classifiert. Step 3: Screening with Large Language Model. Step 4: Manual Screening of remaining candidate papers.

How FAIR is shared data in psychology? We analyzed 11,384 datasets (2013–2024): They're findable, but less reusable! What relates most to differences in FAIRness? #Repository choice. 👉 Preprint: doi.org/10.23668/psy... @mariogollwitzer.bsky.social @kaisassenberg.bsky.social #metascience #SciSci
FAIRness differed mainly by repository, with GitHub and OSF showing lower median scores than PsychArchives, Zenodo, and Figshare

Using a machine learning approach informed by social impact theory, we found that researchers do not rely on a single influential figure in their network to change their behavior and migrate. Instead, a critical mass of peers discussing the topic is considered relevant. #ML #SocialPsychology 🧵3/4

Remember the old #Twitter and when you decided to migrate? How important were your peers for your decision? In our current study, we use data from 250k researchers during the 2022 migration to #Mastodon to examine #socialinfluence within the research community. 👉 doi.org/10.23668/psy... 🧵1/4
