Cutting down our forests for quick cash is like burning your house to stay warm for one night. We need forests more than forests need us. Protect our forests, protect our future. #SaveOurForests #Bamenda

For years scientists warned: Clear 20-25% of the Amazon and it collapses. We've cleared 17%. This isn't a future problem. It's happening now.

People say we can't afford the Green New Deal. Can we afford the $150 billion+ in damages from extreme weather events every year? The cost of inaction is always higher than the cost of transition. We aren't choosing between the economy and the environment.

Capitalism needs to exploit to survive. Exploit labor. Exploit land. Exploit life. In 2026, that exploitation is killing the planet that keeps us alive. That's not economics. That's immorality.

The planet isn't "dying" of natural causes. Forests don't just disappear. They are logged. Oceans don't just choke. They are polluted. Rivers don't just dry up. They are diverted. This is not a tragedy. It's ecocide. And ecocide should be a crime. #StopEcocide

The climate crisis in one sentence: We have enough food, technology, and money to save the planet. We just have a system where destroying it is more profitable. That's not a climate problem. That's a greed problem. #ClimateJustice

Food waste uses almost a third of the world's agricultural land for food that is never eaten. We cut forests, use water, apply fertilizer... to grow food that rots. That's not a farming failure. That's an environmental failure.

Forests are not empty land waiting to be developed. They are carbon vaults, water factories, and climate regulators. When you cut them, you don't create wealth, you release 15% of global greenhouse emissions.

Protecting Indonesia's forests isn't just about biodiversity;it's vital for disaster prevention. With over 1.2 million hectares of forest lost in Indonesia between 2000-2020 primarily due to agriculture, the link to exacerbated floods like those this November 2025 is undeniable.

50% of modern medicines come from plants. 70% of cancer treatments come from nature. The Amazon holds 10% of all life on Earth. We've studied <1% of it for medicine. We are cutting down cures faster than we can discover them. Every forest cleared = A cure lost. Source: WHO / NCI

Deforestation is not development. It turns carbon sinks into carbon sources, wipes out gorillas and forest elephants, and helps dry out the farms downstream. In 2025, non-fire primary forest loss in the DRC hit a record.

The science is not ambiguous. A forest does not “make way” for progress. It is the progress: rainfall, carbon storage, food, and species that exist nowhere else. Clear the Congo Basin and you export drought to the people least able to absorb it.

They call it development. But development doesn't trigger droughts, starve farmers, and drive gorillas to extinction. That's ecocide. #CongoBasin

When you clear a forest in the Congo Basin, you don't just cut wood. You wipe out gorillas, forest elephants, pangolins, and thousands of species we haven't even named yet. Extinction is not development.

Deforestation is not “development.” It is the destruction of a living system that cools the climate, feeds rivers, and holds species found nowhere else. Call the clearing what it is.

A single agroforestry farm can sequester 2-4 tons of carbon per hectare per year. That's a farm that eats CO2 for breakfast. This is how we drive climate action from the ground up.

Climatological risk is the weather itself turning more extreme. A warmer atmosphere holds more energy, so heatwaves last longer, droughts bite harder, and fire weather spreads farther. Some recent heatwaves were virtually impossible without human-caused warming. This is not a future scenario. I

Geomorphological risk is the land itself giving way. Heavier rain on saturated slopes raises landslide risk. Thawing permafrost and retreating glaciers destabilize mountains. Rising seas and stronger storms accelerate coastal erosion. The ground people build on is no longer as fixed as maps assume.

Climate change is speeding up four kinds of risk at once: • climatological (heat, drought, fire weather) • hydrological (floods, water scarcity) • biological (disease, ecosystem collapse) • geomorphological (landslides, erosion, thaw) They do not arrive one by one. They stack.

Climate change is not coming, it's HERE. Floods, heatwaves, and rising seas are testing every bridge, road, and building we have. So how do we build infrastructure that doesn't just survive, but THRIVES?

The Amazon isn't just "the lungs of the earth." It’s a complex, living system that regulates our rainfall, houses 10% of known species, and is home to millions of people. When we burn it, we aren't just losing trees. We are dismantling the life support system of the planet. Protect biodiversity.

The scale of deforestation in the Congo Basin is staggering. It is estimated that an area larger than the size of Germany has been cleared in the past two decades alone. This rapid loss of forest cover has far-reaching consequences for the global climate and biodiversity.
