Oh I totally agree. I tried out Arc (before I learned it was an AI trash monster) and thats the exact situation I faced. I just needed some electronic scrap to upgrade my rooster. I was not aggressive, I was just scavenging, shot in the back constantly.

But thats why you'd run it as an extraction style game and randomly scatter the resources and mobs. In the case of big boy bosses, have a lock bubble around where the boss is once players enter and do whatever they need to do to start the boss fight and theyre given whatever 5 minutes to beat it.

I've argued for this for years. Games like Hunt Showdown and Arc (Yes, I know Arc sucks because AI, I don't play it.) could create a new genre of competitive PvE and it could be successful.

I feel like the problem here is that those bigger PvP games, their producers WANT the pressure from sweats. Because they know they only have the attention of their player base for like 3 months max before they move on to the next thing or back to a solid better classic.

Id love to see PvP in worlds like this that was specifically about resource gathering and boss defeating but players were immune to players based damage. Like make it about a competitive PvE environment.
