After caring for my father his final year (he passed March 31), I’m easing back into posting. I witnessed the full burial—from the clunk of the concrete vault sealing to the soft rush of Georgia red clay back to the plot. I had never seen that before. I felt peace that his body was at rest.

Emory Hillandale is a great hospital. It is a community hospital that serves the needs of people and neighborhoods who had little access to major medical services. I believe most of the negative sentiments are drenched in internalized racism and racist stereotypes of black communities. Forget them.

The erosion of trust in science & scientists — sometimes due to complex social/historical factors but often deliberately perpetrated by charlatans — has tragic, deadly consequences, and, if unchecked, is an existential threat to society.

Openly call it a coup and hostile occupation The most reliable counter to a fascist coup is a popular front uprising. The most effective thing opposition leaders can do is call the situation what it is & start building it. We must show that this Govt is as illegitimate as the Vichy Govt was.

This is one big problem with these laws. If I am supposed to use women's rooms, then many many cis men can too, WAY more easily than having to convince someone they're trans women.

He is using his office to abuse power. But his power isn’t just abusive—he actively wields it to abuse others. America was founded on the principle of resisting such abuses, claiming its greatness in that resistance. Allowing this betrays the very roots of the nation-state. He is a terrorist.

Exactly. Emory thrives on an unbothered, individualistic culture that allows threats to go unchecked. The silence isn’t strength—it borders complicity.

The only sentence in those executive orders they don't take seriously is the one about how the order "does not have the force of law."

Yes, I started on those about a decade ago in graduate school, but my eyes have gotten decidedly worse in the past 1-2 years. I thought it was stress or lack of sleep, but even when I am at my best: I still at cannot see. The keyboard on the phones are blurry. I can’t distinguish some letter combos.

The annoying thing about growing up? My eyes don’t work like they did. Astigmatism plus extra foresightness mean everything is a blur. The doctor warned me as a kid it would get worse. But the past is a stereotype, the future is a hope. All I have is resolve—to get these words out.
