Yeah I refuse to eat the protein ones. I will not pretend anything about this is healthy or beneficial.

There are these new "super stuffed" Pop-tarts (with 50% more filling) and I don't know where to turn for the essential coverage now that Book Fight isn't around. @tmcallister.bsky.social @mikeingram.bsky.social - hope you guys have seen them in stores. The caramel ones are good!

When you haven't visited BlueSky in a month and one of your follows has posted 20 funny things but you don't want to seem like a stalker so you only like two of them, but feel guilty about not supporting the rest.

For sure. Sometimes the gulf of the years hits you. Or you can remember not just one time and place, but three or five or a dozen, smeared across decades. It's worse after I lost a few people, because I find myself thinking "they knew this song" or "they were alive last time I heard this."

Aw, man, Rogue Brewing just shut down? That one really hurts. Probably my favorite brewer, definitely my favorite beer. Just 8 days ago I published a book including a story about their Dead Guy and one of my favorite Saturdays playing Gauntlet. www.amazon.com/dp/B0FY1VMCKT

Not only did the oldest give me a chance to demo how the moon's phases and eclipses work (using apple, orange, and flashlight), but she said thanks afterword. That's one for the Dad files!

This year we have sold 31% of the advent calendars that we sold last year 😓 The art is so pretty and colorful 🥺 The facts are so good 🥺 Eels are so cool 🥺 Get an eel facts advent calendar at EelFacts.net
Sarah holds up an eel facts advent calendar in front of blooming flowers on her sidewalk. It says eel facts an advent calendar. It has 24 boxes with orange and yellow zigzags and yellow circles in the middle with numbers one through 24 in the middle of the boxes there are six eels depicted on this calendar, one green Moray, two splendid garden eels, one blue and yellow ribbon eel, and one American eel and one European.

This is awesome. I once wrote down and held on to a memory for 30 years just to see if a statement would come true. (As of 2016 the Tampa airport is NOT as big as Atlanta, so no, it did not).

Ah, palimpsest, one of my top five-dollar vocabulary words. It shows up in a good book now and then. I think it's one of the pet words, like chiaroscuro, that authors enjoy pulling out when they're inclined to be flashy.

Garage doors are up there with toilets as things that are surprisingly simple, and only take learning 2-3 little things to fix most problems.

Aaron Rath @aaronrath.bsky.social · 05/08/2025
Eh, garage doors aren't too hard usually. If it's squeaky or a little jumpy put some spray on the wheels. If it's *really* jumpy, consider using a screwdriver to adjust the tension on the chain. If it won't go at all, call a pro, but that shouldn't happen more than every 20 years or so.
