"Instead of producing shells in an efficient and streamline fashion, the pricey machines kept failing in bizarre debt ass. The robot arms would swing out of control, smashing into carefully calibrated equipment, and sometimes they would unexpectedly drop hunks of steel 5 feet down to the floor. The factory's signature device, meant to precisely stretch the steel for the artillery shells, instead often cracked it beyond repair. Then there were the giant press machines, which required regular pounding with a sledgehammer to function properly but still botches the shaping of nearly every shell. "We really didn't have any standardized practice," said Quantel White, a former employee. "It was just a bunch of guys taking turns going at the machine with a sledgehammer every night." To workers, even the factory buildings themselves came to feel doomed, with qc is smoke hanging in 100-degree heat over foundations seemingly sinking into the earth.

ESPIRIT DE CORP [challenging:success] - In the office of Velvet Remedy, her pet bird Pyrelight alights on top of a cabinet, in his beak Red Eye's glass eye. Arguments spill in through the door as the owner of said eye stumbles through, haphazardly affixing an eye patch. Swearing at the bird he demands Velvet tell the glowing green parrot to return his eye. A stony faced expression dissuades the young lieutenant and he stomps out of the office. The bird puts the glass eye on a pile of Sacred Treasures. It will be retrieved later.

LUNA - "The radio is in the horse-shoe compartment. Just lift the receiver and it will signal the station" the lieutenant directs you as you rummage through her Lunova, pushing aside receipts for the passed few days worth of Döner. You find the wide pendulous receiver and press the speaker as if by intuition to your ear. A fast sequence of fast beetle stepped clicks tap into your ear before you hear a voice on the other end.

SHIVERS - [intimidating:success] - Over the industrial container yards of Cloud 9 Shipping, in the foggy industrial dust of the apartments of the River l'Elain stands a as-of-still unrepaired courtyard house, in which beneath tarps and caravans set on blocks is Precinct 57. On the table in the main quarters brews a continuous pot of instant coffee. A freshly baked sheet cake sits, as it does every day on the table. And in the mini-fridge under the table is a slice set-aside in a take-out box with Lieutenant Luna's name written on it.
