Today was all about old men getting together and hiding things from each other.

Ben Kingsley was so weird.

Hi!! I'm posting a request on behalf of a friend that wants to remain anonymous right now. I'm looking to see if anyone has any resources or emergency places to stay in Minneapolis for someone who's close to being on the street. If you have any resources can you DM them to me to pass off?

There's a ragged paperback of 2666 in the little free library across the street from me. It's been there for weeks. I live it, but I can't recommend it to anyone.

Love and Rockets #5-9 Fantagraphics, 1984 There are a couple of back cover illustrations by Mario, but by this point it's pretty solidly Palomar stories by Gilbert Hernandez and Locas stories by Jaime Hernandez. Covers by Jaime, except 6 by Gilbert.

Good morning from the bus stop. On my way to the cornea specialist.

Thanks! I've maybe only seen half of these.

I've seen Long Goodbye, Bullit, and French Connection!

100

Thank you! I've barely seen any of these.

Stuff I've liked recently: - Point Blank - Bound - Blackberry - Taking of Pelham One Two Three - Portrait of a Lady on Fire - The Conversation

Reaching new heights of frustration at not being able to read/write due to my eye issues. Would love some movie recs. Just, like, classically good movies in English? (I unfortunately can't read subtitles at the moment.)

I just happened to have some weird stuff (gift jams, garam masala, turmeric, old trail mix) in my pantry. What better place to use them? Sending you good healing vibes!

New construction in an empty storefront nearby. Hope it's something cool and not, like, a pulp adventure themed weed store.

I’m haunted today by a discovery of a sealed case of limited edition cover variants for Blood Borg. Thought these were long gone! These blood-embellished copies are up at Worldchamp.io/store now, the last of their line.

SFULTRA: SFULTRA #15 - The Anubis Gates - Tim Powers

Relistening to the SFUltra episode now, and it has some all-time Sean insults. Steampunk is about... - "a guy making a thing for his leg so he can kick a bin in half." - "having sex with a woman made of door hinges." - "riding an elevator powered by hops." allunits.libsyn.com/sfultra-15-t...

Both my corneas are fucked up, though! And I was supposed to start a new job tomorrow. We'll see what happens. Anyway, if I've missed any messages or been lax in responses, this is why! Sorry. Shout out to podcasts. They've been load-bearing for my mental health.

Boring personal update: been having off-and-on eye problems since March. Bad flare-up on 9/11 left me unable to read and write more than a few minutes a day. Finally saw a doctor today, who sent me an ophthalmologist, who was a befuddled old man who told me nothing. Seeing a specialist tomorrow.
