🎁 Best birthday present this week was finally finishing and preprinting this big project: Together with @thorstenpachur.bsky.social, we investigated how loss aversion in risky choice is affected by how we learn about our options. 📖 Full-text here: lnkd.in/eKu2AEwB

#SAA2026 was so much fun! In addition to learning about all the interesting research going on in the field of ambulatory assessment, I got to present some of my own work on the role of incentives in experience sampling (you can find the preprint here: osf.io/preprints/ps...).

Cancel culture has taken over social media... or has it? In a new paper, Randy T. Lee, Jabin Binnendyk, @gordpennycook.bsky.social, Ovul Sezer, and I found that people overestimate support for "cancellation": doi.org/10.31234/osf...

1/7 When does our disagreement with politicians start? 🤨 In our new preprint with @bnbakker.bsky.social, @gijsschumacher.bsky.social & Joe Bathelt, we find that incongruence may be rooted in preconscious perception, emerging at 150ms, well before conscious evaluation: osf.io/preprints/ps...

How do people search for information to make efficient decisions? Our new theory, now out in Psychological Review, suggests that an efficient search rule is (at the core of) the answer. And eye-tracking data support our theory. Check out here (it's open access): psycnet.apa.org/fulltext/202...

My first PhD paper is out 🎉🐣 We examined transactions between Big Five traits and first sexual intercourse across up to 10 years and ~5,000 German adolescents. Extraversion stood out 🔄🧠 Agreeableness + openness showed interesting patterns as well Check them out here: doi.org/10.1177/0890...

Excited to share a new preprint with @bnbakker.bsky.social, @ylelkes.bsky.social & @gijsschumacher.bsky.social! doi.org/10.31234/osf... Affective polarization research focuses almost exclusively on valence, despite affect having at least two core dimensions. We show that emotional arousal matters!

The first preprint from the SHARE study is out! 🥳 We compared the effects of three different incentives (a bulk payment, a bulk payment with personalized feedback, and payment per beep) on data quantity, data quality, and participant experiences in a student sample.
