Please sign this letter demanding @ucirvine.bsky.social drop its egregious disciplinary case against Prof. Tiffany Willoughby-Herard over her role attempting to de-escalate a police riot. Orange County dismissed charges, but UCI persists in a lonely crusade to punish her mailchi.mp/db1b0ca958fa...

New lab preprint! Dr. (x2) @biancaleonard.bsky.social leads a multidisciplinary team investigating the opposing effects of early-life unpredictability and anhedonia on foraging under threat of predation. Her results suggest that anhedonia may sometimes be an adaptive response to experience. 🧵 below!

On Page 9, the most common response to "Do you currently/intend to use AI" is No, about 1/3rd of respondents to each. Who are these passionate advocates for thee not me? (3/x)

Indeed, on Page 6 they describe a "cluster analysis" to classify Advocates versus Cautious - presumably on free-text responses; I don't see how this could come from the Likert scales. Would love details on methodology & contract terms for the outside consulting firm they hired to produce this. (2/x)

Reading the results of the "Systemwide Faculty AI Survey" I'm wondering if @ucnewsroom.bsky.social used ChatGPT for its statistics. Page 1 loudly proclaims **89%** are "Engaged/AI Advocates", but Page 7 shows 42% use it not at all or once/twice a year. Why lie about this? (1/x)

Last week, @ucirvine.bsky.social remained silent as a known hate group held a campus event questioning the existence of Islamophobia. Two days ago, 75 miles away, teenagers radicalized by the same sort of rhetoric murdered several at a mosque. The UCI Muslim Students Union posted this response.

Congrats to Dr. Nidhi Banavar on a successful PhD defense (the lab's first)! We're sad to see her go, but looking forward to what her revealing knife of inquiry unveils in future work with Kirk Bansak @ UC Berkeley. Best of luck! 🖖
