I just want to share that this was a very real CAPTCHA I encountered nearly 20 years ago and chronicled on Flickr. Happy Friday!

I don't recall the site I encountered it, but the oddly rendered letters in the CAPTCHA spelled out “heroin.”

With everything dark going on in the world, I wanted to pause and offer a little light & beauty: this beautiful blossom growing from the trunk of my plum tree.

A single open blossom - light pink petals surrounding a dozen or so maroon stamen - in the middle of a short twig (6") with about a dozen other buds getting ready to bloom.

Saw this on my walk with the kiddo this morning. Moral of the story: don’t count old, seemingly dead trees out, they can surprise you with incredible beauty.

Really old, mossy tree, was cut back severely years ago and looked to be dead, but it’s sprouted a bunch of new, tiny branches absolutely packed with little pink flowers.
