I need to apologize. This post was completely unfair. In order to coordinate a mob the IPv6 people would have to connect to each other somehow

Being highly online and exposed to diverse information streams used to help with creative thinking. Now being online makes you more average and incapable of original thought. Some people have realized this but a lot still haven't.

@rustrover.jetbrains.com adding nextest support was great! any chance you have support for rstest test cases on the roadmap? VSCode/Zed have had this since forever and my coworkers are making fun of me

Just burned a couple hours debugging a handheld Pi project, seeing HAT not getting power. Then got out my probe and ran continuity test. "hmm that's weird, why are all of these holes sharing a node..." I ordered stripboard instead of perfboard 🤦

We've been working on a major schema migration at @polarsignals.com that has unlocked some pretty wild improvements. Apart from a 50% (!!) reduction in storage size thanks to logical compression in vortex.dev, there has been a dramatic improvement in query performance.

It's still hilarious that when I ask Claude to draft up a plan for a complex task, it gives me human-time estimates. "Part 1: Months 1-3. Part 2: Months 4-6" But then you just tell it to go and it finishes everything in a few minutes lol

If at this point you can’t admit LLMs are good at lots of white collar stuff then you’re just deeply unserious

Look, I get it, Lobsters is sort of the un-HN. Which is cool, I've been a lurker/occasional submitter for over a decade now. The vibecoding tag drama is annoying though. Coding agents are obviously technically/culturally interesting, the repeated attempts to censor it seem misguided

Bilbo looking at his phone top

on bottom is ChatGPT

After all, why not? Why shouldn't I keep it?

You're absolutely right — you found it, it's been with you a long while, and it's only natural to feel fond of something that's served you so well, especially when someone like Gandalf suddenly seems to want it for himself.

This is great - it's about time someone updated the discourse on LLM energy usage to reflect that coding agents use massively more prompts than occasional questions to ChatGPT Simon estimates that a day of coding agent usage comes out close to the energy needed to run a dishwasher

I feel like I need to level up my agentic coding. 90% of my usage is asking Claude Code to generate a first draft of something. Then I'll follow up and guide it to do some targeted improvements, but eventually I take back manual control. I haven't used context truncation, tool calls, hooks, etc.

When anti-AI zealots say untrue things like “ChatGPT can’t search the web,” they’re just hallucinating because their training data ends in 2022. The next generation of anti-AI zealots will be better. Eventually, we will achieve “general anti-AI,” which will only say true things about LLMs.
