Facade of Sotheby's auctions in New Bond Street, London, was done up in surrealist decoration to showcase their record-breaking Pauline Karpidas collection sale last month. Have you ever considered collecting art? #sothebys #london #photography #surrealism #londonlife #art #PhotoHour #auction

When you break the trust of someone, you're a snake. Time ago, this guy snaked on someone and has been made to pay for it for six hundred years (and counting). The medieval folk didn't forgive easily! #ElyCathedral #VisitEly #MedievalImagination #Photography #MedievalCarving #PhotoHour

The divine details of Canterbury Cathedral when you look up standing in the nave. The blue square is the tower, reaching heights of 190 ft (58 m). #Underneath #BlueSkyArtShow #Photography #LookUp #Cathdral #Canterbury #PhotoHour

Vanishing and Endangered Cultures @nowaykgn.bsky.social · 24/05/2025

Gejia is an extremely rare minority ethnic group in China, specifically in Guizhou province, known for their unique cultural practices and language. While officially classified as part of the Miao, they maintain distinct beliefs, customs, and language, and do not identify with the Miao culturally.

Primarily found in the Huangping and Kaili counties of Guizhou province. Have a language without written characters, relying heavily on oral traditions. Known for their unique customs, costumes, and a strong sense of cultural identity.

As I strolled through the streets of historic Canterbury, a dreamy surreal view caught my eye.. A huge face sculpted and placed by the church looked out with its hollow eyes, projecting from the dark of the night #dreams #BlueSkyArtShow #photography #NightPhotography #PhotoHour #Eerie #Face #Surreal

As I walked out onto the rooftop viewing platform of the Hayward Art Gallery, my friends noticed the rain has stopped and there was now a rainbow soaring in the sky. It was a lively surprise. #beautiful #photography #ArtShow #PhotoHour #Silhouette #shadows #london #rooftop

I painted The Luteplayer having visited Arundel Castle. During my visit, a man dressed in medieval attire was playing a lute (or a cittern) under a tree and it mesmerised me. #watercolours #medieval #ArtShow #castle #music #painting

Gallos (meaning 'power' in Cornish) – a life-sized bronze sculpture inspired by the legend of King Arthur. It stands tall on the mountain, overlooking the sea and the ruins of Tintagel Castle in Cornwall, striking a mysterious presence. #ArtShow #PhotoHour #Sculpture #Cornwall #Photography #Legend

The Lady Chapel in Westminster Abbey did not disappoint! The 16th-century historian John Leland called it ‘the wonder of the world’. It’s an example of late medieval architecture of the time of Henry VII #WindowsOnWednesday #WallsOnWednesday #PhotoHour #Photography #medieval #WestminsterAbbey

Great-great-grandma's suitor. We don't know if they ended up marrying. It's a shame most know almost nothing about their ancestors, but if we asked our grandparents more we would know more, carrying their stories with us as we raise our kids, who will one day want to know. #old #photography #vintage

When I visit a medieval church or cathedral I cannot resist snapping some highlights which are later used to make quick drawings in my book of gothic favourites. You will find many gargoyles and grotesques gracing its pages. #medieval #architecture #drawings #art #watercolour #painting #sketch
