Yael Lebel @yaelebel.bsky.social · 02/02/2026In our new paper, we used data from 500+ infections to show that disease outcomes aren’t random but cluster into distinct archetypes reflecting tradeoffs between immunity and tolerance. A simple host-pathogen model reproduces these shapes, offering a geometric lens on immune strategies.science.orgFrom Plato to Pareto: Defining the shape of infection’s disease spaceAll malaria outcomes fall within a tetrahedron in microbe-by-immunity-by-damage space. 120

Yael Lebel @yaelebel.bsky.social · 17/06/2025A few days ago a missile hit one of my favorite places: the lab where I spend almost every day of the last 3 years, where I grew up professionally and personally. As Odin said: Asgard is not a place; it’s a people. Where the people are, the science will continue to be. We will rebuild! 100
Yael Lebel @yaelebel.bsky.social · 02/05/2025It took me so long to feel “back like myself” after my first pregnancy. In some senses, I never did. This amazing mega-scale study by my lab mates researches the dynamics of different systems during pregnancy, and finally gives an explanation to these feelings I had. A must read! 000

Yael Lebel @yaelebel.bsky.social · 11/02/2025Yesterday, after just a few back-and-forth with chatGPT, I created my more updated website. It now doesn't have pictures of dogs, but you can find there my research interests, my publications, and some cool links to things I do. Yael Lebel @yaelebel.bsky.social · 11/02/2025When I was 8 or 9 years old, my father taught me some basic html to make my own website. I don't exactly remember what it was about - maybe about dogs? Anyway, it was very basic, and took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to produce. 110

Yael Lebel @yaelebel.bsky.social · 21/01/2025As a child I really wanted to be a doctor. So how did I end up a PhD student combining physics and immunology, standing in front of a crowd talking about trashy Netflix shows and toilet tanks? 🤔 Watch it all come together at the talk I gave at the last Azrieli fellows forum.youtu.beYael LebelYouTube video by Azrieli Fellows Program 130
