PMC COVlD Update, Oct 5, 2026 ◾️Levels peaked at ≈610,000 estimated new daily infections in mid Sep ◾️36 states still with known outbreaks (see Alt text) ◾️13th COVlD wave Website: pmc19.com Interactive county-level map: pmc19.com/map
The US has at least 36 states and territories with COVlD outbreaks. The apparent wave peak has passed, but transmission remains high across much of the country. States with observed outbreaks include Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Hawai'i, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming. There are likely outbreaks in additional states. The summary statistic only includes counties with observed data, rather than estimated data. For example, Arkansas, DC, Idaho, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Wisconsin likely have outbreaks, but monitoring is poor.

#LibeledLady is sort of screwball at its purest: where everyone onscreen feels funny and smart – but utterly individual. So it makes you feel that maybe you, too, have the potential to be that special, and to find love that’s not only exhilarating, but challenging in all the right ways. #TCMParty

Like a whole lot of screwballs – like The Awful Truth, like Theodora Goes Wild, like The Lady Eve – #LibeledLady is in great part a comedy of discomfort. It’s a celebration of humiliation. And few actors did nuanced mortification better than Powell. #TCMParty

Yes, #Lanterns is a lot of fun as a superhero buddy comedy with Aaron Pierre & Kyle Chandler, but there's another who gives it a greater emotional heft: the great Kelly Macdonald. For @avclub.com, wrote in praise of her stellar performance this season📺 Read that here: www.avclub.com/lanterns-kel...

Buster Keaton's Iconic House Fall Stunt from the film STEAMBOAT BILL JR. It is Keaton standing in front of a two story home during a hurricane scene. The storm knocks the front wall of the house down on top of him. He perfectly placed himself so that the open window of the second floor falls around him, and not on top of him. A very dangerous stunt.

NEXT WED at #TheNoirCollective: One of the first American films hailed as “noir” – and the most honored, with four Oscars, including Best Picture. @ctmillion.bsky.social and I are hosting THE LOST WEEKEND (1945). What happens when you hunger for the American Dream – but can’t quench your thirst
Folks might recall we were due to host this on September 2, but both Bluesky and Internet Archive were having issues. So I’m going on record here and now as saying that come rain or come shine, come hell or high water, come glitching, come buffering – even if CT and I have to host this damn movie on Zoom using sock puppets – we will be watching THE LOST WEEKEND on October 7, and as God as my witness, we will never be thirsty again.
