One thing I’m so glad to see is the positive inclusion of elements from Star Trek V: The Final Frontier in Strange New Worlds. I personally love STV. It’s absolutely goofy. Not a great movie, but credit where it’s due, Shatner gave some life to their characters.

There’s very little nuance in TV critique these days. It’s either “OMG AMAZING” or it’s “THE WORST EVER” You can like something and not love it, you can actually really hate one part but fall in love with the next. That’s allowed.

This is a very literal take. “Hurt” can refer to many traumas, and generally in the context of the phrase it’s alluding to a hidden emotional trauma. People who experience such things, will then often project that pain onto others, causing a vicious cycle.

It’s clear in the film that Lily isn’t necessarily opposed to this - and there’s nothing in canon to suggest she hadn’t earned her flowers. But as a standalone point, it’s a byproduct of bias in an era where these things simply weren’t considered.

Brave to say! the film consistently receives high remarks to this day. We recently reviewed it & agree it holds up… with exception that it’s Lily Sloane who was the one clearly running the warp program, while Zefram Cochrane was a lush who took the credit. Not that it was meant to be this way.
