I'm a little sad the pirate quest happened in Rebirth and not Revelation because I want them to give Nanaki a pirate eyepatch

(there is also a shadow electabuzz you can do this with, weird that gale of darkness gives you two!)

I took this exact plunge with my own gale of darkness electabuzz. Unfortunately he's not a shadow mon so he's not got the shadow ribbon, he's instead from the in game trade that wasn't shiny locked, so I wanted him shiny!

Yeah that's a big part of it! Sometimes playing with an endgame player feels like being given a roadmap of what I'm "supposed to be doing" which can take a lot of the discovery out of the experience

I know functionally if you rush through the content I can get to the current expansion in no time at all but I would really rather go through at a snail pace and engage with the parts that I find fun in the interim than try and fasttrack my gear progression to get to whatever the latest shiny toy is

I will say I run into a lot of issues with FFXIV of players much further ahead in the game rushing to tell me about/get me to progress to content I have no concept for when I really just kinda wanna go at my own pace and collect shit. please let new players explore

Andrew (Ape) @specialagentape.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

A lot of my interests and stuff are like furry-adjacent but I've never really identified very much with the desire to roleplay or be an animal or whatever. I think it really is just that I've always liked monsters having grown up playing Pokémon and RPGs and mascot platformers so much

I've got some hard predictions for revelation but also can't put it out into the social media void because there are still people in this world waiting for all 3 parts to be out before they start the series at all and it's hard enough to vaguepost about the stuff that's already out as-is

it's a shame the wider ff7 fandom is toxic as shit because it gives me no outlet to get out all my excess fan energy while I'm in the biggest "8-year-old era special interest rockets back to the top of the special interest list after 23 years" era of my life

Do you remember where you were when the Sector 7 plate fell? I saw it happen from my office... Helplessly watching on in horror at the destruction... Praying my wife and daughter were okay... There was also this weird cat watching outside my window which was... distracting, but I'll never forget...

View from Shinra Middle Manager's office (which shares a bizarre similarity to the office seen in The Stanley Parable), watching the fall of the Sector 7 plate. Cait Sith is also watching from this view outside the window.

I was never really able to articulate exactly what was "wrong" with it because like overall it has fun characters and presentation and music but I just can't get into it, and I do think it's definitely just the vibe feeling like something I am aged beyond lol

I know this is a me problem but I have a hard time liking Persona at all because I'm not in high school anymore and it just feels like a social fantasy not built for me that no amount of stylish presentation can correct.

Even though it was overall a smaller PAX this year, I'm glad I went and it was a lot of fun. Fan spaces are so cool, cosplayers and music and just the vibe of being with passionate people are just something impossible to replicate outside of a fan convention scenario.

I think on the contrary, when the industry is in such a sad state, it's our duty to make our art without the baggage of that looming over and show people what makes being a creative worth doing while the industry is fumbling over money and sunk costs that harm and devalue the final product.

I had heard about the indies expo from a fan of my indie music work and definitely have some interest in checking it out, time permitting. Difficult to do so much in a short stretch of time but I'm glad to see spaces for this kind of thing existing

Andrew (Ape) @specialagentape.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

We could be making anything else and my mindset would be the same, the goal is to make something with my friend and if people like it that's a happy side effect. I don't really care whether our release model has any effect on the "indie scene" or whatever because it's all nebulous anyway.
