I've had people commission me a few times to draw my own characters, which was great. Or even just a species they want to see more of, etc.

Yeah, also I think folks spend the hottest part of summer sitting around inside, spending more time online. When it starts to cool down, they start being active again. Getting the yard ready for winter, going leaf-peeping, finishing projects, etc.

Maybe just have to go out at night? Still 80s here during the day, but getting real chilly after dark.

I kind of miss doing adopts, especially funky weird hybrid furries and dragons. I feel like my adopts really never did very well, but man I miss letting my creative juices flow to make fun creatures. Anyone feel like commissioning an artistic liberty hybrid character design? 😅

I wonder if it's seasonal? People going back to classes and generally having less free time. I know for people in my life, September was insanely busy. Going to work conferences, projects popping up, sudden travels, etc. Everything seems to be planned for autumn.

yeah I've spoken to him about it, it's how I know he went in on the mortgage with his brother. I bought a house 3 years ago, so I know how it goes, getting aaaaaaall the spam mail, texts, etc. "I SEE YOU BOUGHT A HOUSE! Need some new windows/roof/pest control etc. etc. etc??"

110

Sidian @sidian.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

It was an amicable breakup, so he's not doing anything malicious. We use to have a family plan, & my # just became associated with his name as a result. Doing a mortgage blasts your name/info into public record, so they got his name and my # with it somehow. Getting all the 'new house' & voter spam

010

Sidian @sidian.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

I'm invested now. I need to know what response you get, if any. I keep getting calls/texts for 1. My ex, who just bought a house in OR and my # is still associated with him somehow. There's no way I can fix this. and 2. The new owner of my old house (10+ years ago). My # is assoc with that too

#furrybookmonth is a great time to reflect on the characters borne from one's heart and mind. Let's start with Professor Van Elsburg. He is a meek black-backed jackal and the first-personal narrator in "reWritten". Commission by @sidian.bsky.social, generously paid for by @suidpunt.bsky.social.

TLDR: Fur Affinity's advertising partners are demanding that they ban adult content. Sciggles and FA want to firmly tell them to go fuck themselves. If they're going to be able to afford to do that, they need the community's help. Pitch in. Keep furry weird. www.furaffinity.net/journal/1143...

I tried to watch the show, got maybe 15 minutes in and had to turn it off. Seems like it's yet another case of Netflix sensationalizing and taking wild liberties with a historical true crime case. Would've preferred a docuseries. Look forward to watching your vid!

That sucks. I have similar feelings about the local con here. There is no real preference given to local folks and it's frustrating. I was offered an artist alley spot, but only for one day, and they couldn't guarantee which day. No thanks.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

how about some good news: new cat just dropped!!!!

a photo of a small, spotted wild cat, with orange fur and brown circular markings, staring up with big golden eyes.

Meet the First New Cat Species Discovered in 100 Years

A small, spotted tiger cat from Bolivia may just be the beginning of a wave of new small cat species.

This 10-year-old male tiger cat is the first of his species (named Leopardus tilcayo) known to science. He is approximately 18 inches from head to end of body and weighs only 3 pounds, making him smaller than the average domestic cat. This video was captured at the Senda Verde Animal Refuge in Bolivia’s Yungas region, where he currently resides.
