Another day, another icon down. Almost everyone involved in the Rocky Horror Picture Show was shamelessly ripped off, including Richard O’Brien & all the actors, but it‘s still a masterpiece, in no small part due to Tim Curry’s mesmerising performance

Jeremy Vine is “impartial“, apparently, which is why he was such a popular choice to host an event by @carers-uk.bsky.social that they’ve had to withdraw the invitation.

@carers-uk.bsky.social still don’t seem to understand why disabled people, survivors, activists and carers hate Jeremy Vine so much.

When it looked like Benjamin Zephaniah would become a Cambridge don, The Sun ran this…
An article from The Sun from 1987, in which it is claimed Benjamin Zephaniah was only being considered for a Cambridge don position because he was black. The headline: “Would you let this man near your daughter?”

This writer is disabled himself. Behind a paywall,it attacks people with disabilities whilst justifying it with his own disability. He has form for attack articles on the disabled, people on benefits, pensioners, presumably feeling he’s immune from attack because he tows the line of those who hate us

How - in the light of this - is there any justification for raising the pension age even further?

The DWP are absolute bastards - punishing people who have more than very basic savings - a limit they haven’t raised in 20 years - whilst berating people for not having sufficient savings

It’s completely coincidental that The Times also twists what the report says in exactly the same way….

We’ve put this on Twitter in the hope it’ll get their attention, but we’re happy to help in whatever way we can

We got into trouble for calling this out on Twitter. The vile owner of that site wants normalise disgusting language for fellow fascists, but also has recently called for people calling someone a fascist to be considered as incitement to murder, which would lead to a lengthy jail sentence…

King’s College Centre for Society and Mental Health

Sharing your Experiences to Improve the Benefits System
We Would Like To Invite You To Take Part In A Major
International Research Project

What is the research about?
We are comparing the experience of
claiming benefits in five countries (UK,
Norway, Spain, Hungary and Estonia)
to understand what makes a benefits
system better. Most research looks at
things like poverty and work, but
we’re also focusing on how benefits
affect dignity, security, and fairness.
The goal is to improve benefits
systems in the UK and beyond by
sharing real experiences from people
who claim benefits.
We’re interviewing 100 people from
the five countries over the next year.

Who is doing the research?
The research is funded by the UK’s
major research council (UKRI), and is
being conducted by independent
researchers from King’s College
London, Oslo Metropolitan University
(Norway), Centre for Social Sciences
(Hungary), Complutense University

How do I take part?
If you take part in the project, you will
engage in two activities over six
months:
1. An interview where you will be
asked about your life history more
broadly, including your history in
claiming benefits.
2. Following this, and for a six-month
period, you will contact us directly
after any interaction you have
with the welfare system. We will
follow up some of these messages
by arranging a short, individual
follow-up digital or phone
interview.

Will I get paid?
To thank you for your time involved in the
project, we will provide you with a series of
gift vouchers throughout the project, a total
of £175.

Want more information?
If you want to ask any questions about the research or want to know more
about taking part, then please contact esca.van_blarikom@kcl.ac.uk
For more info on the wider project: https://welfare-experiences.org/

Govt have been briefing this rubbish to right wing rags for the last few days. Forcing people into work who aren’t well enough to work will not cure people or make them better, nor make someone any less depressed or anxious. This is performative cruelty, punishing people for being unwell.

Just @mind.org.uk having a bake-off with the DWP, who regularly impoverish people with mental health issues and drive them to suicide. Cake or death? Or let them eat cake? 🤔
