This morning in Shreveport, another community woke up to a horror too many families in this country know all too well. Eight children were killed by gun violence, and tonight their parents are living through an unimaginable nightmare. We cannot keep accepting this as normal.

Speaker Johnson must immediately reconvene the House to vote on a war powers resolution. It’s beyond clear we are at war. The Speaker's legacy will be that he made Congress so irrelevant that a president can threaten to wipe out a civilization while Congress is on vacation.

I was honored to host the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce in D.C. for their annual Washington Summit. Small businesses are the beating heart of our communities. This Chamber battles for them daily so they can expand, create jobs, and build the future of South Florida.

At this critical moment, we recognize the extraordinary dedication and sacrifice of those deployed abroad. They serve with courage under immense pressure.

The situation in the Middle East is grave and evolving rapidly. In response to US and Israeli strikes, Iran responded by attacking its Arab neighbors. That was certainly a choice. As regional partners remain on high alert, my thoughts are with the brave American service members in harm’s way.

I am formally requesting the Departments of Defense and State to fully brief Congress on the rapidly evolving situation in Iran. This is a serious moment that demands full transparency and congressional oversight.

There’s a lot of verbs and adjectives to describe the President’s speech. Unifying is not one of them.

The Chamber plays a vital role in strengthening Fort Lauderdale’s economy and supporting the leaders and small businesses that make our city a special place to live, work, and thrive. I'm proud to be your ally in Congress and grateful for the invitation.

South Florida’s strength comes from the people who build it, lead it, and serve it. This Black History Month, I want to recognize several outstanding leaders whose work strengthens Palm Beach and Broward Counties:

When George Washington voluntarily stepped aside after two terms, he showed a world dominated by kings and emperors that America would be different. Here, government is entrusted to the people, and power is limited by principle.

Eight years ago, Parkland was forever changed. Seventeen of our neighbors were taken from us at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and our community has carried that pain ever since.

The video that was shared from the White House today is one of the most vile things I’ve seen in a long time. There’s no place for that racist bigotry in the White House and I hope the person responsible is fired immediately.

But let’s be clear: the underlying policy is still wrong. Haitian TPS holders are legal workers who power our health care system in South Florida. Ending TPS would not make us safer. It would mean fewer caregivers, higher costs, and longer wait times for patients. That’s not smart policy.

Congressman Jared Moskowitz @repmoskowitz.bsky.social · 03/02/2026
I’m relieved that a federal judge has temporarily blocked the termination of TPS for Haitians. This ruling provides critical relief for roughly 350,000 Haitian TPS holders who faced losing their status today.

Show us where the roughly $170 billion already funded has been spent on, stabilize FEMA, and stop the havoc across DHS.

Congressman Jared Moskowitz @repmoskowitz.bsky.social · 03/02/2026
I voted no. Under Kristi Noem, FEMA is being gutted, ICE is over stepping its mandate, and the disaster-assistance backlog is exploding while Congress is left in the dark about where prior funding went. This is clear mismanagement, not underfunding.

If DHS truly needs more money, they can submit a targeted supplemental request to Congress and justify the requested funds. Until that happens, I am a no on additional funding for DHS.
36013
Congressman Jared Moskowitz @repmoskowitz.bsky.social · 22/01/2026
Congress has no idea how much money is left from these funds and asking for more is just further evidence that DOGE was a complete failure.

Congressman Jared Moskowitz @repmoskowitz.bsky.social · 22/01/2026
The damage has not stopped at FEMA. Secretary Noem has unleashed the same kind of havoc across DHS and ICE. This Congress has already provided $170 billion to the department, and now they are demanding even more.
1163
Congressman Jared Moskowitz @repmoskowitz.bsky.social · 22/01/2026
Congress has appropriated tens of billions of dollars to FEMA in FY25, yet FEMA still owes billions of obligated dollars to states waiting on disaster relief, including those led by Republican governors. The state of Florida is owed over $2.6 billion.
1203
Congressman Jared Moskowitz @repmoskowitz.bsky.social · 22/01/2026
In a single year, DHS has churned through three FEMA administrators, while FEMA’s backlog of unanswered disaster assistance applications has exploded to the largest in its history. That is not a funding shortfall; it is a blatant failure of leadership.

The arson attack on Beth Israel Congregation, the only synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi, was an attack on religious freedom itself. Antisemitism is a scourge that must be confronted, not ignored. I stand with the Jewish community and the freedom of all to worship without fear.
