I baked cookies... but they're legit salty because I used salted butter and forgot to omit the salt from a recipe that called for unsalted butter. 😂

Part of me feels like I should take a break from drawing and go back into my baking/dessert-making phase or something.

Once upon a time, I got an ice cream maker solely because they weren't selling hojicha ice cream down here anywhere, so I would make it myself. 5+ years later, finally one of the grocery stores sells it in pints YAY!! I no longer need to churn cream for a craving. #pompix

Still trying to figure out how to work with nicer watercolor paper. I can layer and scrub so much more compared to cheap paper...??? Masking fluid also doesn't tear the surface? waow

d!scord child-locked me out of mature servers on app (not web) and I don't want to update the app to see if that'll fix it... I was already pretty bad at checking it. I might just end up less active there too

Chonky mosquito inside my car while driving and ofc it spazzes on my windshield when it really not safe to attempt trying to smash while driving. But it was also very distracting, so either way it was not safe. My work commute is long too. 🫠 Anyway I survived (but so did the mosquito...)

HMmm it feels like cheap watercolors don't work as well with nice paper

It's cool my current job gives me the opportunity to do more events, but I'm pretty sure I overdid it this past year and a half. I won't sign up for any additional events that I'm not already pending/confirmed for next year because it'd be nice to go back to drawing without chasing a deadline...

oooh I kind of needed lrp. I'm drawing but also in some sort of art block and trying to figure out how to get myself to be motivated/productive. I definitely like my art better when in idgaf mode.

say what you like about haruki murakami's fiction but NOVELIST AS A VOCATION is one of my foundational craft texts. and yes it's very buddhism coded

THIS IS PURELY MY OPINION, but ifyou wantto express yourself as freely as you can, it's probably best not to start out by asking "What am I seeking?" Rather, it's better to ask Who would I be if I weren't seeking anything?" and then try to visualize that aspect of yourself. Asking "What am I seeking?" invariably leads you to ponder heavy issues. The heavier that discussion gets, the farther freedom retreats, and the slower your footwork becomes. The slower your footwork, the less lively your prose.
When that happens, your writing won't charm anyone-possibly even you.
The you who is not seeking anything, by contrast, is as light and free as a butterfly. All you have to do is uncup your hands and let it soar. Your words will flow effortlessly. People normally don't concern themselves with self-expression-they just live their lives. Yet, despite that, you want to say something. Perhaps it is in the natural context of "despite that" where we unexpectedly catch sight of something essential about ourselves.

When I go on trips, I actually hardly ever miss home. I'll miss cooking my own food and a specific firmness in a bed if lodgings don't provide one to my satisfaction, but I never felt like there was a place I needed to return to (just a place to store my stuff).
