Orc 1: "Did you hear that? What was that?"
Orc 2: "Probably something that finally broke off and fell down one of the wells. This place is old."
Unknown voice: "Fool of a Took!"
Orc 2: "You know what? Let's go check it out."

They let me know who they are as we go. I've accidentally written clever things like names and character traits that I only realized later.

Yes! This is an essential part of orcish culture in my books. To be a fully-functioning adult member of society, they have to be admitted into one of three paths and educated and initiated into it by a member of that group. In this process, they earn a second name and a pendant that represents...

Definitely! Their accents, dialects, and vocabulary vary wildly. I try to write different POV characters' chapters differently since they all see the world differently. The challenge is not to overdo it!

This is a fun one! Orcs are innately rock (or maybe steel), as they can harden parts of their skin like flexing a muscle. For their other types: Blaze: dark (ironically) Skum: water Skara: fighting Mike: poison Olarga: grass Doc: ground Kalliope: psychic/ghost (not rock/steel)

This is an important part of book 2. Demons can just do whatever they want (though can be persuaded/negotiated with). Angelic beings are sent on assignments for specific reasons by higher authorities, but this can be hacked by people using blood magic.

I'd really love some art for my book, but I'm not an artist. I can't paint or draw worth anything. I know some great artists, but I don't have the extra cash to commission anything. But not having artwork is SO MUCH better than using AI. #Booksky #Authorsky

This thought has been inspirational for me. My writing has to be better than at least SOME of what's out there... right?

- gen ai can't be copyrighted - gen ai makes products from stolen materials - gen ai requires no talent, no skill and no creativity - you do not own it. you did not make it. you are presenting a nothing burger. if you want people to take you seriously, do your own work.

I think it started when I was playing with LEGO as a kid and hasn't really stopped (LEGO or world building, lol).

I mentioned my novel to a couple of friends today, and one asked me if it would ever see the light of day. That's decent motivation, right? Also, hi! New account. I want to learn more from y'all and share what little knowledge I have. ❤️📚 #booksky #authorsky
