Update on my 6th attempt at the CNRS permanent researcher position application: - Developmental biology section failed... - Genomics section: result in 16 days 😬 This is probably my last chance ever, as I was already told last year that I am getting "too old" according to the CNRS head […]

What a feeling! Today I played around with multiple datasets and found by chance converging evidence for yet unknown TF interactions which corroborate with multiple but separate publications. If true, this interaction would explain why female-to-male sex reversal occurs so late in mouse ovaries […]

As almost no one on 🦋 used Bridgy Fed to converse with my 🦣 account, I am stopping the bridge 😔 and I had to open a real 🦋 account... bsky.app/profile/isabellestevant.bs…

Seriously? In 2025, we still publish papers without the data? There is no point to publish papers without the data. Maybe there is no data at all and the results are bullshit! How can we know? 🤬 #releaseData #OpenScience #openaccess
Sceenshot of the Data Availability Statement section of a 2025 paper: "Some or all datasets generated during and/or analyzed during the current study are not publicly available but are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request."

I got a postdoc fellowship! From next October, I will officially join the lab I am squatting for three years as a visiting postdoc, here in Montpellier, and for 2 years! I will still work on gonads, but more on ovary ♀️ , in adult this time, and doing many epigenomic investigations on mutant mice 🧐

The X chromosome has an "X" shape, so... the Y chromosome should have a "Y" shape, no? 🤣 #ai #science

Because my paper is stuck in reviews since the beginning of December (no feedback, even from the editor 😮‍💨), I couldn't have a publication on time for the CNRS competition this year. As a result, I was not selected for the oral presentation while I was last year. I was said last year I was […]

Am I adding an extra aim to my research project less than 24h before the application deadline?

Ok, J-3 before the CNRS application deadline and I already uploaded everything on the platform 🤞 It feels weird to be in advance, it's really not in my habits 😳

I didn't talk a lot here this year. It has been a crazy year to survive in academics and pursue my goal to become a permanent researcher. In January, I revived the @BioinfoFr blog, in February, I sent my application to the CNRS competition, in April, I was auditioned for the competition but […]

📣 Preprint Alert ! We just released the manuscript of our study of the regulatory elements that control fetal testis and ovary development in mice! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/202… #sexdet #DevBio #bioinformatics #RStats
biorxiv.org
Divergent regulatory element programs steer sex-specific supporting cell differentiation along mouse gonadal development
Gonadal sex determination relies on tipping a delicate balance involving the activation and repression of several transcription factors and signalling pathways. This is likely mediated by numerous non-coding regulatory elements that shape sex-specific transcriptomic programs. To explore the dynamics of these in detail, we performed paired time-series of transcriptomic and chromatin accessibility assays on pre-granulosa and Sertoli cells throughout their development in the embryo, making use of new and existing mouse reporter lines. Regulatory elements were associated with their putative target genes by linkage analysis, and this was complemented and verified experimentally using promoter capture Hi-C. We identified the transcription factor motifs enriched in these regulatory elements along with their occupancy, pinpointing LHX9/EMX2 as potentially critical regulators of ovarian development. Variations in the DNA sequence of these regulatory elements are likely to be responsible for many of the unexplained cases of individuals with Differences of Sex Development. ### Competing Interest Statement The authors have declared no competing interest.
