#Caturday Grandkitten Edition That tiny ball of fluff in the center of the pic is Odin. He's about 6 weeks old. Very fuzzy. I think there's a fair bit of Siamese or even Himalayan in him; he's got the points on ears and nose and a dark tail.

[Shooting range practice] First time with my 380. Not too shabby. I finished off a box of Federal, then switched to Fiocchi. LOVE the Fiocchi. Might shoot this for my CCL qualification. #ResponsibleGunOwnership

Tonight's #dinner is a Cuban pork roast with black beans, onion, poblano pepper, and tomato. The mojo criollo marinade was very simple to make.

A plate of black beans with onion, poblano, and tomato, served with pork roast marinated in mojo criollo. More than half the plate is vegetables. Three slices of pork roast sit to one side.

[Target shooting, evil clown] I really hate clowns. (Except the funny ones.) This was me with three different .22s. Smith & Wesson, Glock, and Ruger. I'm leaning toward the Ruger. #TargetPractice #ResponsibleGunOwners

[Low-carb food] Tonight's #dinner is an all-meat "bowl of red," roasted asparagus with bacon and feta, and a low-carb cornbread with no corn, but with jalapeños and pepper jack cheese.

A cream stoneware plate with dark green folk-art designs holds a wedge of cornbread and a serving of roasted asparagus with bacon and feta. Next to it, a deep, wide bowl holds a helping of cubed chuck roast seasoned with New Mexico chili powder (I ground some fresh) and other spices, simmered with diced onion and minced garlic in water with a touch of cider vinegar and 2 ounces of strong brewed coffee. The liquid cooks away, leaving fork-tender meat coated in deliciousness. A dollop of sour cream adorns the meat.

Here's the other landscaping element we did this week, with the roses planted in cedar tubs. The lighthouse is solar (just the light, not the windows in the base). So are the two little lights at the front of the footbridge. I'm waiting for one more statue, and it's done (I think). It's a…

A landscaping element of pea gravel, with a small footbridge at one end leading into the enclosure. To the right is a gray sea turtle. At the far end, on a mound surrounded by limestone rocks, is a stone lighthouse. It is flanked by two cedar tubs, each containing a bare-root rose bush, newly planted (nothing visible but cut-back canes).

In the front, flanking the footbridge, are two solar path lights. At the right, leaning against the upright support of the handrail, is a gray stone with IMAGINE carved into it. At the left, barely visible, is a multicolored metal cow sculpture.

One of the two bare-root roses we planted on Memorial Day has new growth already. The other not so much. If that one fails to thrive, I'll get a bush to replace it. In other yard news, I did some trimming and cleanup in the front. Cordless weed whacker did a good job. I'm letting the two…

A small landscape element of river rocks, a stone street address marker, three green koi, two copper cranes, and a dark green baby dragon.

In the immediate left behind that is a thatch of tall grassy weeds and part of a sapling. The tree stays. The rest I took out with a string trimmer.

#Dinnertime Tonight's meal is Philly cheesesteak–stuffed portobello mushroom caps. They only had baby Bellas, so we get three each. Delicious.

A cream-colored ceramic plate with dark green folk-art designs on the rim. On it are three baby portobello mushroom caps filled with Philly cheesesteak ingredients (sautéed onions and green bell pepper, thinly sliced sirloin steak, Provolone, cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream), baked until golden brown.

Still waiting for the koi, but I like how this is shaping up. #LawnDecoration

An asymmetrical roundish landscape element filled with natural river rock. Just behind the horizontal center is a large stone (21 inches square, more or less) engraved with our street address. In front of it to the left is a cute dark green resin dragon statue about half the height of the stone. Behind the stone is a pair of copper cranes roughly 36 inches tall (one preening, one with outstretched neck). Their green patina complements the dragon nicely.
