Some personal news: please welcome Charlie, a 7 month old rescue pup. It's been almost a year since @lisafybush.bsky.social and I lost our beloved Sadie, and uncertain times are a little easier to take with a friendly face and a waggy tail.

Who's the best boy? This brown and white dog with a pinkish nose and a majestic demeanor, at least in the moments when he's not already claiming the sofa as his own.

Tonight at the Rochester Fringe Festival, I will be telling the true story (possibly for the only time in public) of why I abruptly left my job in public radio, what I regret about it, but also why I ultimately needed to do it. It's part of a great "Catharsis Time" storytelling show.

Most of the team's personnel were in Memphis, but Spikes hung out with the fans to celebrate the win. Now it's on to Las Vegas for a one-game AAA championship on Saturday.

There were only a couple hundred diehard fans in the park and it was 53 degrees out, but there is nowhere else I would rather have been. It was electric at the end as the Wings retook the lead in the 8th.

My hometown Rochester Red Wings won the International League championship tonight on the road in Memphis, for the first time since '97, but we watched on the screen at the ballpark . Here's me with my son in the seats where I sat with my late dad 29 years ago. (29 was his favorite number.)

I disagree that there have been no good US coins. Here are a few in recent years that I've really liked. I was at the coinage advisory commission meeting when they reviewed the Little Rock dollar and one of the Little Rock Nine was there.

There was a huge and amazing display from the "Tyrant Collection" of hundreds of Byzantine and Ottoman gold coins. So many faces of rulers who thought they'd be known forever, and today are remembered by almost nobody. Someday that will be him, too. Someday.

Mourning Tim Curry along with @lisafybush.bsky.social, who introduced me to RHPS in college. And as we remember all his brilliant roles, I am especially fondly remembering going to Chicago for the previews of Spamalot, where he overacted like hell as King Arthur.

I haven't quite been *everywhere*, man, but I've covered a lot of ground. I have spent enough time in Indiana, especially, to almost count it as "lived," with Nevada right behind. I have never spent a night in AR or MS. Also 8 of 10 provinces, missing SK and NL.

Last kid escapes from high school today. He also voted for the first time, and hopefully not the last. I'm glad this is the last we have to deal with this school district. It's been a long ride since I started here 49 years ago. And that was the most generic speech I've ever seen a sup't give.

One of the joys of having a history buff son is letting him plan a winding route home from Pittsburgh. The site of West Virginia's creation in 1863, the oldest suspension bridge in the country, the world's (second) biggest teapot and William McKinley's birthplace. As one does.
