I couldn’t resist buying a copy of The Rush by @bethlewis.bsky.social at Capital Crime yesterday particularly as my 2nd great grandfather traveled to Canada in 1899 to search for gold during the Klondike gold rush so I really can’t wait to read it!

Yeah this was happening when I was there. They brought on a very lovely and talented data scientist to develop it and it just went nowhere. It’s how they got investment for a few years, by promising guaranteed bestsellers. It was so misguided and I think they knew it and did it only for investment.

To be clear, I left Unbound 5 years ago. I was there for two short years and in that time there were 3 rounds of redundancies. They have had problems for a long time and are absolute c*nts for not fixing it sooner.

So sorry Martin. While I’m not surprised by Unbound folding, I am shocked at how they’re handling it.

Unbound authors will not receive unpaid royalty payments until new publisher Boundless 'is cash stable'

maybe some of this heartbreak could have been avoided. I truly feel for the authors affected who now won’t see their royalties, after assurances they would. It’s shameful and I can’t see how anyone would trust Boundless now. www.thebookseller.com/news/unbound...
