Labi Siffre is so good, I'm glad he's finally been getting more recognition this past decade after being kind of overshadowed by covers or songs that sample his work in the public conciousness for a while, idk if you've listened to any of his other stuff but I'd really recommend it

I’ve thought long and hard about making this post, but really, at this point, I don’t have much to lose. Desperate times, and all that.

TLDR version: I need a kidney transplant, and I’m looking for a donor. Read below for all the gory details.

Since late 2019, right before Covid hit, I’ve been battling a serious illness. I’ve been kind of cagey about what exactly is wrong, for a number of reasons, but here’s the truth—I’m in full kidney failure.

There is no history of this in my family, so when the symptoms began appearing I didn’t recognize them until it was too late. By the time I went to a doctor my kidney function had dropped into the single digits. Most kidney failure is caused by diabetes or high blood pressure—I got some weird kidney disease I can’t even pronounce and never heard of: Oxalate Nephropathy.

By adopting some dietary changes and careful monitoring, I was able to limp along with reduced kidney function for several years. But you don’t appreciate how much your kidneys do to keep you healthy until they stop working. There’s constant fatigue and nausea, and a general feeling of unwellness that never goes away.

But eventually I lost even what minimal function I had left, which left the end of the line for kidney disease: dialysis. As of this point I’ve been on dialysis for about 3 years. Let me tell you—dialysis is its own special kind of hell that you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy.

But even that is just a stop-gap measure, and my condition is continuing to get worse. Despite this, I’m trying my best to live as normal a life as possible. I’m extremely lucky I have a job that’s willing to allow me 9 hours a week for dialysis, so I’m still working. On weekends I work on my art and comics, and one or two days a month I do my volunteer work at the bird-banding site. I can even travel to see my family—if I arrange for dialysis at a local clinic ahead of time.

All of that is done while trying to deal with the symptoms of kidney failure. I’ve known 4 people who were on dialysis—none of them worked or really did much of anything, and at this point they’re all dead, which doesn’t really give me a lot of hope for my future.

Which brings us to the point of all this—I desperately need a kidney transplant. That is the only thing that will give me a chance at a relatively normal life. I’ve been approved and on the transplant list for a few years, but the waiting period in California is very long. By the time I get to the top of it, I may be too sick to get one. Right now I’m still in relatively good condition, comparatively. A transplant from a living donor lasts much longer and is better in every way than one you get from a deceased donor.

Unfortunately, everyone in my immediate family is too old or has other health problems that preclude donation. So this post is a desperate attempt to find anyone willing to donate. I realize donating a kidney is a lot different than giving ten bucks to a GoFundMe, but as I said at the beginning, at this point I don’t have much to lose by asking.

maybe if you're comparing yourself against the artistic output of everyone ever? I don't know to me your posing seems at the very least above average, it reads very clearly to me, stuff stays proportionate and it creates the illusion of depth in an effective way, that stuff is what matters most imo

-detracts from that because at a certain point it feels like technical improvements give diminishing returns and the main thing that matters is what's actually being shown and how despite your lack of broad appeal certain pieces of yours have an extreme amount of appeal to a smaller group

yes your work may not have broad appeal, but you have a lot of variety, you make stuff that feels like it comes from a legitimate desire to make it and not an attempt to widen your appeal and on a technical level it's very impressive and I don't think the existence of more technically impressive art

there's a real tangibility to your work that I adore and also your composition is extremely strong, especially in your mewdomos but even in your porn there's always a lot of visual clarity which is often something uncoloured/mostly uncoloured porn struggles with because of the complexity

big disagree, I don't tend to say when I like your art a lot, particularly your porn stuff because I don't use my alt a whole ton and I try not to get too much of that on my main, but you're really good at naturalistic posing between more than 1 character/entity which is hard
