In my most pondering, this is what I want from Catriphus, at the end of the day. I still want to live as him online, as a fun guy that throws meteors and giant sandals at douchebags uwu But my views on him for the Cult, its structure and scripture, are much more personal and meaningful to me.

I think about that dichotomy still, years later. I think it's what made me ultimately season Catriphus the way that I did. The two sides of living: living with power and living with love. Living to embolden the You that lives in the physical world, and the You that lives in your mind.

Years back, someone in this community that did psychic readings for a living gave me a tarot reading, and they not only pinpointed my gender dysphoria at the time, but pinpointed my unhappiness in my life. They proposed two life-paths in my reading: a life of great power, or a life of self-love.

Maybe that's what I wanted. An anti-hero. Someone that comes off mean and prideful and lusting and cruel. But at their core, they understand the importance of freely-expressed life, and allow all mortals to live happily with the challenges that they will overcome to become their strongest selves.

Realizing that I've modeled a lot of what I want Catriphus to represent after the 4 Cardinal Virtues. The prudence to choose a good life for all, the justice of giving Misfortunes that are surmountable, the fortitude to survive Misfortune yourself, and the temperance to curtail complacent living.

It's funny how, after writing "UP to YOU", I really did make so much of Trip myself, but I also created a snapshot of my mentally-ill self to criticize from the perspective of others. Lives that also have inspiration from my struggles, all trying to deny my claims of self-hatred with experience.

When you're born to be something, feel in your heart that you can do it, feel disconcertion and fail, wildly change your life-path, and feel confused/aimless as you try to either recorrect back to a certain path of depressing obligation, or finally accepting an uncertain path of self-understanding.

More writing the retrospective tonight. Thinking on how a lot of my personal work is steeped in the "you have an obligation that you can't fail under any circumstance" concept. The concept of fierce loyalty to something, even if it hurts you, out of fear of what it will do if you choose against it.
