I have a bed! The most comfortable bed I have ever had in my life. The rest of the house is a disaster and I am of course left cleaning it all up, but at least I can have a bedroom that feels normal again and stop sleeping on the couch. It's progress.

That is probably going to be the strategy for as long as possible! The eventual concern is frozen pipes which will force my hand. I hate having oil heat in the first place, but given tariffs and everything else, it's too expense to convert to another heat source right now. One day though.

Considering I am now paying for this house on my own and it's going to cost me about $700 a month to pay for oil for heat and hot water (thanks Biden 🙄), I am definitely going to be playing the "how long can I keep the heat off" game this year. Weren't we promised no wars? Did MAGA forget?

I am going to enjoy sunshine and pin trading and a cocktail by the pool and try to regain the identity that was stripped away from me over the years. I am going to eat Homecomin’ chicken. It’s a small step, but it is something. Also, my cousins have had babies, and I will get to meet them!

So listen everything fucking sucks. But I am going to be in WDW in a month. I am going to see family I haven’t seen in five years since my grandmother died. I don’t know if I will even do the parks; at this point, I will be happy to sit in a hotel and cry with no responsibility for anyone else.

Every year on this day I pull up some original news broadcast from the morning of 9/11 and just sit in it for a bit. It still feels as raw as it does 25 years ago, but now it has all the layers of anger from what has followed in the 25 years after. Also, I miss Peter Jennings.
