I think it's somewhat fair enough from a Slovenian perspective. They are a small nation (in global terms, not cycling), so missing by far the biggest star in a home race sucks. Not sure when Slovenia may get another shot at a home winner of a major champs? "Ruined" is a bit hyperbolic tho.

If you're on Insta, Toby from @colddarknorth is an excellent, friendly and knowledgeable resource for Lancashire cycling - and I know he knows the canal as he took me along there! Carnforth to Lancaster was pleasant enough; a step up from the A6, but a bit busy as it goes past many back gardens.

Really? 2020-23 Wout was pretty damn fast, winning the odd proper bunch sprint against top sprinters, not just reduced groups. Suspect Brennan *will* be faster than peak WVA, but not sure he is yet.
