The end of an era - After almost a century we said goodbye this morning to our great companion of the airwaves Radio 4 198 LW. I shall miss her warmth and crackle. Here’s the final sign off at the end of #theshippingforecast before she fell silent… ❤️

The @latenightlinux.bsky.social team at @ubuntu-ls.bsky.social Summit 25.10. It was a privilege to have been invited. No doubt we’ll have a round up in the next few weeks, suffice to say lots of genuinely exciting things happening with Ubuntu. #ubuntusummit2510

@8none1.org I just heard your comment about voice being the future of typing in a recent LNL episode. And I agree 100%. That's why I built github.com/zugaldia/spe..., which I've been using daily for most of my typing for months now. Feedback/contributions always welcome.

“We learned a lot about the Moon, but what we really learned was about the Earth.” Jim Lovell, who guided Apollo 13 safely back to Earth, has died aged 97. His bravery was second-to-none but I loved him for his sense of wonder, and his willingness to let that show. RIP www.bbc.com/news/article...

📻 Amateur radio shaped modern tech, from satellites to the internet. Yet, much of its history is at risk of being lost forever. 🕳️ #VanishingCulture Why does this matter? ➡️ blog.archive.org/2025/01/14/vanishi…

“When amateur radio enthusiasts die, their media collections are often disposed of by survivors who don’t have any connection to amateur radio. File cabinets and bookcases full of (sometimes irreplaceable) materials are emptied into recycle bins.”

IKEA have stopped selling non-rechargeable batteries for ecological reasons. This means no more Platboj. These CR2032 coin cells were, I think, about 10 pence each. All the ones on Amazon are around FIVE times the price! What are people using?

I propose we replace semantic versioning with pride versioning

Diagram with large number: 2.7.123
First “2” is commented: Proud version. Bump when you are proud of the release
Second “7” is commented: Default version. Just normal/okay releases
Third “123” is commented: Shame version. Bump when fixing things too embarrassing to admit
