Case in point, a girl I went to school with lost her father when he was murdered for protecting a Polish guy getting threatened. I'm old enough to remember Gillian Duffy ranting to Gordon Brown about Eastern Europeans & most people I knew agreeing with her.

I don't even think it's that simple. There's a lot of hatred towards Eastern Europeans that their white skin doesn't protect them from. I think it's more white English people thinking they can't be immigrants because they are better than non-white & non-English people.

Around 2011 when I was studying the collapse of Rome I said that the USA would have a civil war & break up in 15-20 years & the right wing would be the cause of it. Perhaps the USA could be saved but things look right on track for an either/or situation. Either civil war & divorce or dictatorship.

There are stateless versions of Zionism, although they are minority views, so technically Zionism could even exist inside a one-state Palestine. I don't see a one-state Palestine as being likely. The west doesn't want it to exist & who's making the Israeli Jews adopt Palestinian citizenship?

For a Zionist, especially a Jewish Zionist, Zionism is the political realisation of Judaism and the return to Israel. That's where the issue starts. As an Israeli said to me, without Jews there is no Israel & as long as their are Jews they will be Zionism because of Jewish cultural revivalism.

Well aware, the point is that the argument Scotland was colonised rests on the argument England destroyed Gaelic culture & imposed English against Scottish wishes & forced a political union Scottish ruling classes didn't want. Both arguments fall apart when you understand the history.

That Scotland wasn't colonialised? How about the Statutes of Iona (1609) which instructed Gaelic Highland families to speak Lowland English & the Scottish Privy Council in 1616 removing Gaelic from the Highland education system. These were Scottish policies not English ones & long before the union.

Any Scottish mov going to the UN to argue Scotland is a colony is going to have to answer why Scotland approached England, kept approaching England about a union, was destroying its own gaelic traditions, engaged in settler-colonialism & public opinion during 19th & 20th Cen viewed England as ally.

The plantation of Ulster occurred before the act of the Union. What was that? Lowland Protestant Scots going to Ulster to take land from the Irish for the crime of being Gaelic & Catholic like the Scottish Highlanders. Some English went too as Protestant allies with those Scots, not as follow Brits.

Of course they didn't it was the 18th century. It doesn't change the fact Scottish elites approached England about the idea & got pushed back numerous times. Scotland was already destroying highland gaelic culture too for being associated with Catholicism. None of this was colonialism by England.

The idea of the United Kingdom originated with a Scottish king & the English parliament protested against unification with Scotland. Scottish elites kept pushing for it & eventually the English parliament agreed.

I studied Nazi propaganda as part of my media module and Goebbels used to describe the Jews as a cancer to argue they had to be murdered in large numbers to protect the ethnic nationalist state. Here we see a Jewish ethnic nationalist using exactly the same framing for Muslims for the same reason.
