It’s easy to say “they,” incredibly easy. You are “they.” I am “they.” It’s like thanking a deity for the work by doctors that gained knowledge from scientists sharing work to publishers. Or should I just say “they?” (Good) teachers host more enlightened conversations than this with 10 year olds.

This is a little short-sighted as it does not consider energy efficiency. Wasted energy=🌍🥵. Double-roofing, thermal mass planning, time-of-use, and strategic shading all benefit one’s well-being; anybody can slap an air conditioner on something, but it does not resolve the problem of Climate Change.

Sorry, I meant in totality. Such as: $100/mo x 12mo x 6yr = $7,200

Consider the other operating expenses associated with ownership: ~7,500 USD for fuel, and perhaps another ~7,500 USD for your insurance policy. The value may appear unchanged, but the 15,000 USD operation expense otherwise affords wealth accumulation, with a present value even greater than that.

Hi David, the $250/yr does not cover the full picture. The average driver pay a significant amount larger than $250 in motor fuel tax. Because that amount is not collected from buying gasoline, they recuperate it from a single tax. Hope this helps! I owned an EV 4 years (now car free)! Overall less!

Assuming the post foreshadows things to come, mass-scale deployment of this infrastructure has the power to either expand Australia’s economy or strengthen the Australian currency- perhaps both.

@janrosenow.bsky.social I’m interested in a conversation about my experience with photovoltaics. I graduated university majoring in sustainable and renewable energy, and with my very unique story hope to share what I believe are valuable insights for you as a professor and policymaker. Thank you.

Land value and sunlight access is not uniform. The United States practices inefficient land use and oil-dependent agriculture at-scale. Hybrid farm+solar systems exist and are called agrivoltaics. The farm was never intended to be a 1mi x 1mi plot in the Midwest.

You’ll find the more you talk about your successful, proven system, you’ll be told “well, if it was really that easy, why wouldn’t everyone already be doing it?” And it is baffling!

I fully support the development to improve costs for this to become realized and deployable nationwide.

Today, there is not sufficient infrastructure in America to handle charging all semis as an electrified fleet at 15c per kWh. Kickstarted with the bailout money from the settlement of VW emissions scandal, Electrify America (no longer owned by VW) charges most electric vehicles between $0.40-$0.80

What a crude joke

But when I talk about cell towers installed next to elementary schools and then there’s an increase in cancer rates, I’m the crazy one.

Burning methane is safer than letting it freely into our atmosphere. A responsible use for unending methane bubbling from sea floors and melting permafrost is to have it replace electric generation which introduces even more pollutants to the atmosphere. When prices rise, don’t produce/consume.

Want a positive take on this? The cost of renewable energy is plummeting AND continues to return communities to a state of dignity instead of disparity. Would you rather learn to sustain yourself (or your family), or surrender more income to maintain this as the status quo?
