Remember when Trump went to the oilgarchs and asked for $1B for his campaign, essentially promising them whatever they wanted? Result? war on EVs, killing mileage standards, so more fuel would be needed. Guess who wins with Hormuz being closed? Follow the money. Trump is benefiting from no deal.

To all y'all (as we say here) who threw shade at me for buying an EV (NOT a Tesla!) in 2023, I have this to say:

Talarico is a great candidate for Senate--anywhere but in Texas. Because, well, Texas. If you think Abbott, Patrick and Paxton will let Talarico be certified the winner, you haven't been paying attention. It's not who votes that counts--it's who counts the votes.

Governors races are more important this year than Congressional races. Dems will be stymied if they win but Dem governors will give them a platform to run on in '28.

I hope the GOP retains the House and Senate. If Dems win, they won't be able to accomplish anything bc they won't have a veto-proof majority. Then in '28, having gotten nothing done, they will lose the White House and Congress again. But if the GOP holds, '28 will be a watershed election.

Those of you alarmed at the photo through the plane window of Trump holding a newspaper with a demolition of the Kennedy Center headline--Remember Trump is a performer. If he hadn't wanted it to be seen, he would have moved away from the window. It was all theater (pun intended)

Trump selling $2.8b worth of weapons to Israel when US' own stockpiles are depleted. Guess here is Putin promised to make Trump permanent US governor after Russia takes over defenseless USA.

If you're reveling over the SCOTUS USPS ruling, don't. Trump didn't care if he won or lost; losing simply allows him to contest any result he doesn't like, drag it on through the courts for months, and tell little Johnson not to seat any representatives whose result he has sued.

Trump's EPA will announce tomorrow no more limits on power plant emissions--accelerating climate change. IOW, we don't have to wait for AI to kill us all--Trump will beat them to it.

25 years...and the world is less stable today then it was in 2001. Why is violence such an aphrodisiac to men? Trump is among the worst celebrating death and destruction. Have we learned nothing all these years later?

It occurs to me that Prince Harry, who grew up in a monarchy, couldn't abide the despotic rein of King Donald 1st so had to flee back to a more benevolently ruled kingdom. I envy him.

Living in one of the poorest states in the US, it's hard to describe how much good Dolly's Imagination Library does to elevate children beyond the resources they have. In what is supposed to be a "rich" country, what it does for its poorest is despicable. RIP Dolly. Parton is such sweet sorrow.

In the (somewhat unlikely) event Democrats win Congress, if they spend all their time investigating the administration, 2026 will be the last time they ever have a majority, Voters will never trust them again, rightfully so. Democrats need to pass bills helping people, even if they are vetoed.

For the first time in recent memory, Democrats have actually nominated candidates who can win state wide. Well, except in Maine. Oh, and Kentucky. And Michigan. And--oh, never mind. Same old Democrats.

I don't think anyone realizes that the damage that has been done to US is irreversible. Not even a D Congress and White House will ever be able to repair not only within the US but worldwide. The US is over, but the billionaires will keep popping open champagne. I wish I were born elsewhere.

Nixon appointed Burger, Blackmun, Powell and Rehnquist to SCOTUS. Reagan elevated Rehnquist to Chief and appointed Scalia. If there is one person responsible for the decline of the US into its current state of irrelevance, that person is Sirhan Sirhan.

If you're wondering how SCOTUS came to be the partisan political sycophants they are today, pick up a copy of "Closed Chambers" by Edward Lazarus. The downhill slide began with Nixon, then Reagan, Bush 41 & 43, now Trump. The "Reagan Revolution" was a response to the Warren SCOTUS

Any woman who gives birth to a child in the USA should be immediately arrested on child abuse charges and deported with her child to a country (say, Canada, e.g.) where both the mother and the child have at least a chance to flourish--which they wouldn't in the US.

Instead of condemning poor people to a slow, agonizing death by taking away health care and food assistance, it would be more humane if Trump would just deport them. They'd actually stand a better chance of survival in almost any other country.

to y'all looking at Nov. thru blue-colored glasses: the math doesn't add up. Dems need to flip 11 seats after the redistricting; where are they going to do that? Senate needs 4 to flip--NC is a pickup but MI is a loss and Dems just gave Collins ME again. Republicans always come home.
000

I guess I need to keep posting this until November: It's not who votes that counts--it's who counts the votes.

Trump Administration Admits Canceling Grants to States That Did Not Vote for Him
Federal officials said in court documents that they halted billions of dollars in funding for energy projects to states “based solely” on whether they backed President Trump in the 2024 election.

I can't fathom how morally bankrupt a lawyer has to be to have for a client Trump, Giuliani, Justice, and so many other grifters, crooks, and criminals. Yes, they're entitled to representation, but is it really worth the fees?

75cavalier @75cavalier.bsky.social · 20/07/2026
But for Sirhan Sirhan, Nixon would not have been able to appoint 4 justices, including Burger & Blackmun. Interesting to speculate on the direction of the court and the law had RFK been elected, as he likely would have been. (even though Blackmun wrote the Roe opinion.)

Talarico can't win TX w/o Houston and Austin. Prediction: voting hours will be curtailed in both areas and if there's heavy turnout anyway, voting machines will be seized. Paxton will be declared the winner and seated in January. Houston, Austin ballots will be tied up into March.

Reminder it's not who votes that counts-it's who counts the votes. Prediction: Ossoff can't win w/o Fulton County. Those ballots will be impounded and not counted until after Congress convenes 1/27.

Again-give Trump 2020 election he claims he won. That makes him ineligible to be POTUS under 22nd Amendment: "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice" ELECTED, not sworn in, not serve as. Give him 2020 and remove him from office immediately. Where are Democrats?

Blanche hearing is nothing more than performance art on the part of Republican committee members. Blanche will be confirmed even though Collins is concerned but convinced he learned his lesson.
000
75cavalier @75cavalier.bsky.social · 14/07/2026
If you think Blanche won't be confirmed you haven't been paying attention. Trump wants him so the Senate will deliver. And Susan Collins will say she's concerned but he's learned his lesson.

More on "Dumocrats" State party should have told El-Sayed MI is NOT VT. MFA is a loser in MI and if El-Sayed is the nominee, it's another pick up for GOP in the Senate. Meanwhile, ME party thought Platner was their Trump-immoral Nazi sympathizer w/populist msg. How'd that work out for ya? Idiots.

Finally agree w/Trump--they are "Dumocrats." KY Dems should have told Booker to stand aside after he sabotage McGrath in '20 and lost by over 25 to Paul in '22. But no-he's up against Barr and will lose by at least 25. The least they can/should do is divert funds to where they CAN win. More coming

The damage that has been done to the US in the last 18 months can never be repaired or reversed. The great experiment is just for the history books now. Fear is Putin or Kim will strike while the US is at its weakest, having expended its arsenal in the middle east-and being led by incompetents.

75cavalier @75cavalier.bsky.social · 11/07/2026

Dems learned nothing from KY '20. Michigan senate candidates carving each other up at the debate provided free advertising for the GOP nominee whoever it is. Booker savaging McGrath in '20 propelled McConnell to reelection when Moscow Mitch used Booker's ads against her. Dems deserve to lose MI.

NYT: Trump rolling back gun regulations, incl. bans on stabilizers & allowing mentally deficient persons to own them. Also the "gun show loophole" has been reinstated as has ghost purchases. This from a person who's been shot at twice.
