My BF broke off our engagement because I don't want to take his last name

His last name is silly. I don't want my last name to be HigginBottom. My last name is cool. I told him he can change his name to my last name and he got offended and said I'm a female and that's not how it works. He said it's tradition that once a woman becomes married she takes his last name and the children take his name too. I said I don't want to do that. He actually broke off our engagement and ended our relationship over this. He blocked me on everything. That was the end of that. I feel like I didn't get the proper closure. This break up is living in my head rent free. I just wanna tell him off. This whole thing is so stupid.

I (29F) am planning to leave my completely financially dependent and toxic partner (34M). How do I warn him that he needs to get it together?

My partner and I moved out of our home state 4 years ago when I got a job. He has not had a job since, and I struggle significantly to get all of the bills paid. He spends a hundred or more dollars a week on weed which makes it more difficult, and I have to pay for everything. He complains about my cooking, but doesn't cook either so we have to eat out often. He gets in very foul moods where he slams things, yells, calls me names, etc.

At the beginning of April I told him I don't want to be with him anymore. I also told him if he reacted aggressively to my feelings, I would plan to leave him without warning. He reacted aggressively, by slamming things, and then I decided to work outside of the apartment because he was being so loud and I work from home. He found the cubicle where I was working in our building, barged in, got in my face and called me a whore among other things. When I made the comments in April, I promised myself that I

would leave.

believe that part of the reason he reacts so negatively to me saying these things is it means he will lose access to housing, food, a car, etc. He doesn't talk to his family. He does have one close friend whose family he can maybe stay with although I'm not sure. My partner will be out of town for a week or less this summer, and I plan to pack up and leave then. I don't know how to go about this, and what I should say (if anything) given his previous reactions. My therapist connected me with a DV org, who is going to help my break my lease. I don't know how to go about telling him he needs to start taking action to support himself, given his reaction in the past.

He will not know where I am going, however he does know where my mom lives and that kind of freaks me out.

My boyfriend took me to visit his family for first time and it was one of the creepiest experiences ever

My boyfriend and I have been dating for about half a year now and it's been great so far. Never met his family up until this point as they live in another state. This past weekend he decides to take me on a quick trip (Fri-Sun) to meet his family. I knew he's from a wealthy, Scientologist family but he himself is not practicing or involved + he said it's not actually that big of a deal, his family

well guarded, top security, it already feels off at this point. Inside the property there are people in uniforms working around the yard / garden. They greet us but make no eye contact whatsoever. I'm creeped out at this point. I ask my boyfriend about them, he says they're just "staff". I meet his mom, dad and younger brother inside. They're nice. His parents are very "fancy" people. Inside the house there's the same people in uniforms doing stuff, and the place is spotlessly clean. We have a meal together, and these people serve us, think servants in movies. They don't talk, no eye contact, the parents don't interact with them, it's so weird. At this point I subtly mention them by saying the staff's doing a great job. The mom says they're not "really staff", but "something similar". She says they're part of something called the "Sea Org" and they're essentially "volunteers". So they don't get paid...

of the days until we left was the exact same. Tried to have a chat with the "volunteers" but they only give short, polite replies and run off. It quite literally felt like they were forced to be there. I tried to ask my bf about it (even now) but he has the same way of talking in circles as his parents about anything related to their family / Scientology. They say a lot but actually say nothing
