My favorite card in the set. Congrats Curt!

It's been awhile since I've put this out there but I did a deep dive video awhile back on trying to date this Satchel Paige image. Its one of my favorite pieces so I really dove into this portion of Satch's career. Please enjoy! youtu.be/Kd1TTDHJZz4?...

The perfect playing days Satch card and price point eluded me until this beautiful copy popped up. I think this will be the only card I buy in 2025. Yes, it's January but I don’t feel like I need anything else. Maybe that changes in 6 months but for now, this card is enough for a good long time.

Ahhh I see. These aren't photos and SGC doesn't authenticate photos. The confusion here is the "type". This is referring to the different backs and or front that many of the Jay Publishing "photos" have. Kind of like the different Sanella Ruth types are based on where the Sanella name is located.

If there's anything that catches your eye you can send the listing my way and I'll give you the best answer I can. Or reach out to more knowledgeable photo experts for you!

Thanks for the tag! It's a complicated subject but I gave it my best show within character limits 😂

@mcfarm21.bsky.social a type 1 vs a type 2 is a lot harder to discern if captions and the right stamps aren't present. Paper stock can usually give away a print from the 40s vs a print from the mid 50s and on. Optical brightener in photo paper became more common in the 50s. UV lights give that away.

Wade @51wad.bsky.social · 12/01/2025

Type 2 is still off of the original negative meaning the image should still be pretty clear and free of the pasted captions that are part of image thats usually in a type 3 image. Here is a type 2 of Cool Papa Bell and Candy Jim Taylor vs a type 3 of Larry Doby with the Newark Eagles.

On this day in 1972, Roberto Clemente tragically passed away while attempting to fly aid packages to Managua. He was 38. Here’s my painting of him stretching his neck and taking in the sun after a postseason double on October 9, 1972, a little over a week after collecting hit number 3,000.

This restrike was created when the HoF was inducting Josh Gibson, fulfilling Ted Williams' request 6 years prior. The line between fact and legend in Gibson's career is blurry. There's no doubt a healthy Gibson would have demolished Major League pitching but he died far too young at age 36 in 1947.

Wade @51wad.bsky.social · 21/12/2024

It's not often you get to add a vintage piece of Josh Gibson to your collection and I can't help but share it on his birthday. Although this is a later reprint (type 4) from 1972, I'm extremely happy since it is almost a zero percent chance I obtain a photo from his playing days.

Happy Birthday Larry Doby! Here is my wirephoto of the MLB pioneer from when he was signed from the Newark Eagles to the Cleveland Indians in 1947. Integrating the AL took a terrible toll on Doby. On his birthday let us not forget what a brave man he was in this act and in his service during WWII.

I absolutely love this. I'm a fan of the Almendares as well and Carribbean baseball in general. I commissioned @cashlumber.bsky.social for this Almendares piece to go along with my team premium. I appreciate your website. Sometimes it's a struggle to convey how good these guys were so thank you!

Making certain actions look forgivable with elevating a schmuck and pedo like Rose is gross. Sports stardom isn't this vacuum you are making it out to be. They don't just exist in sports, many of these stars are cultural icons. Bad people deserve to be made an example of, at any level.
