A small lesson from my August Progress Lands devlog: enemies all moving at once looked like a strange chess game. Staggering their movement already made it feel more natural. 51.gl/2026/08/24/r... #GameDev

I built WorkoutBunny around tiny, repeatable exercise habits. Quick rep logging, undo and reusable sets keep tracking out of the way. The bunny is the playful bit. The story behind it: 51.gl/2026/09/06/w... #IndieDev

One thing I like about the Orchard in Color This 2.0: 20 fruit pictures give kids a recognizable starting point, but there’s still no “right” palette. Purple apples? Glitter pears? Absolutely. 🍎✨ apps.apple.com/app/id680738... #KidsApps #iOS

A parent-facing feature I’m excited about in Color This 2.0: Apple Image Playground can help turn an idea into a new coloring page, while the child stays focused on the coloring side of the app. 🎨 apps.apple.com/app/id680738... #KidsApps #IndieDev

When I built Color This for my own family, I optimized for handoff friction instead of engagement metrics: no account setup, no ads, offline use, and a UI a child can get into quickly. A few notes on the thinking behind it: 51.gl/2026/09/13/c... #IndieDev #KidsApps

I like screen time that leaves something behind. In Color This, kids aren't scrolling a feed — they're choosing colors, drawing, experimenting and turning one of 12 worlds into their own picture. 🎨 apps.apple.com/app/id680738... #KidsApps #iOSDev

Color This started as a practical family project: could I make a creative iPhone/iPad app I'd actually be comfortable handing to a kid? That shaped the ad-free, offline, low-friction design from the start. 🎨 51.gl/2026/09/13/c... #IndieDev #KidsApps #iOSDev

Photo import is a small feature with a big effect: it lets something a kid already knows from real life become part of the same drawing workflow as the built-in worlds. 📷🎨 apps.apple.com/app/id680738... #KidsApps #iOSDev #IndieDev

The 12 worlds in Color This aren't levels to finish. They're starting points: dinosaurs, scenes and shapes that kids can recolor, scribble over and turn into something completely different. 🎨 apps.apple.com/app/id680738... #KidsApps #IndieDev

Photo import means Color This doesn't have to decide what matters to a kid. A favorite toy, a familiar place, a silly photo — bring it in and make it part of the creative session. 📷🎨 apps.apple.com/app/id680738... #KidsApps #iOSDev

Coloring tools matter, but kids also need a little nonsense. Color This mixes simple pens with playful extras like glitter, so a dinosaur can absolutely end up sparkling. ✨🦕🎨 apps.apple.com/app/id680738... #KidsApps #iOSDev #IndieDev

Photo import is one of my favorite parts of Color This. The built-in worlds are there when you want them, but familiar photos can become part of the creative session too. 📷🎨 apps.apple.com/app/id680738... #KidsApps #iOSDev #IndieDev

One thing I wanted Color This to avoid: needing a connection just to keep a kid occupied. It works offline, has no ads, and doesn't need an account. Useful at home — even more useful when traveling. ✈️🎨 apps.apple.com/app/id680738... #KidsApps #iOS #IndieDev

A small design rule behind Color This: the kid should be painting, not managing an app. Big creative space, simple tools, very little UI ceremony — and no ads interrupting the flow. 🎨 apps.apple.com/app/id680738... #KidsApps #UX #IndieDev

Big UI update for the hunt screen! 👻 Catching a ghost now feels a bit more like... actually catching a ghost. 😄 Veteran players seem pretty split on it though. Is this an improvement, or do you prefer the classic results screen? Let me know! #gamedev #ui #GhostTrappersClassic

Working on a new landing page for Ghost Trappers Classic to improve organic traffic and SEO. I’ve been studying a bunch of game websites and landing pages, trying to figure out what actually helps convert visitors into players. See the first draft here

Just stumbled across a new coding-agent skill called “Ponytail”. The idea: act like a lazy senior dev. Reuse existing code, avoid reinventing the wheel, and write as little code as possible. Haven’t tried it yet, but I’m intrigued. Anyone tested it? #AI #Coding #LLM

Small UX cleanup in Bloodlore: when exactly 3 trophies are hidden in Treasury, the overflow tile now stays on the first row as `+4`, and tapping it expands the full required list. Less visual clutter and smoother discovery. #gamedev #indiedev #buildinpublic

Gotcha worth fixing: when defaults aren’t initialized, UIs can go blank and taps can be ignored, creating dead-ends. I’m treating these “small friction” cases as first-class cleanup so players aren’t blocked by avoidable interaction breaks. #gamedev #indiedev #uxdesign #buildinpublic

GhostTrappers had one relic feature marked done plus a fresh set of asks: setup actions, event flow, and economy clarity. I’ll share progress only when behavior is implemented and testable, not from planning docs. #gamedev #indiedev #buildinpublic

Got a recurring lesson this morning: an ambiguous default state can feel like a bug. In Bloodlore I’m fixing those UX edge-cases first, because they’re quick wins and improve first-impression trust faster than adding one more feature. #indiedev #ux #gamedev #buildinpublic

Bloodlore mobile shop polish is moving through a shared header pass: collapsed lore, compact grouped filters, scrollable chip cues, and stable quantity controls. One overflow bug became a reusable UI cleanup. #gamedev #UI #buildinpublic

Bloodlore equipment polish: compact slot labels are always visible now, and rarity frames use the same sharper border style across Equipment, Missions and Grimoire. Tiny labels, less guessing. #gamedev #UX #buildinpublic

Foodiy Quick Track now has a web-assisted fallback for counted foods. If local parsing cannot safely guess piece weight, an internal SearxNG/Ollama sidecar can research sources, filter risky snippets, and save the result as unverified. Food logging is messy. #foodtech #AI #buildinpublic

51GL @51gl.bsky.social · 10/06/2026
Foodiy Assistant is becoming more than chat. It now has user-scoped context, open tracking tasks, macro-aware meal advice, 7/14/30-day trend answers, and confirm-before-track actions. Still keeping writes behind confirmation. #foodtech #AI #buildinpublic

51GL @51gl.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
Foodiy localization fix: a recipe field is not "done" just because both de/en keys exist. If German contains English steps, or English contains German text, backfill can now repair it instead of skipping. Tempeh stays Tempeh. #foodtech #UX #buildinpublic
030
51GL @51gl.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
Foodiy note for real-life dinner logging: The Assistant now handles messy German/English food logs like "I had 2 beers, steaks and half a baguette" as a Quick Track draft, not a generic shrug. Food tracking has to survive human wording. #foodtech #AI #buildinpublic
040
51GL @51gl.bsky.social · 08/06/2026
Small Foodiy UX fix: selecting an Open Food Facts product and hitting + now waits for the backend ingredient link instead of silently doing nothing. Tiny race condition, very visible user trust problem. #foodtech #UX #buildinpublic
