Capitalism is all about supply and demand. Car companies supply inefficient vehicles that are more profitable to them and the government demands that you buy them regardless of what your preferences actually are

As a not particularly critical viewer of TV this just seems like a list of every show that has come out while I’ve been an adult in mostly random order

Okay the fraud part is bad but the stupidest part of this has to be the idea that you can call the manufacturer of anything. You can’t fuckin call anyone anymore because they only want you to talk to their chat bots that are designed to make you give up

I, like everyone, love Reacher, but as a civil servant so many of the plot devices this season are grating on me. Like government ID badges have photos on them! There’s a long and complicated process to getting a IT system login and your boss can’t just log in to your account!

My theory is Frankfurt airport, like so much German literature, is just a very fucked up self-flagellating response to simultaneous German feelings of complicity in and resentment for being blamed for Nazi crimes

got back scans of the first roll of 35mm film through my 1964 Kiev 4 rangefinder. I bought this at a flea market in Tbilisi, Georgia years ago and just never got around to using it. I can’t believe how well this thing works given its age and how little I paid for it (it’s in exceptional condition)

First medium format scans are in! Some I had to crop and/or straighten in post because I was shooting while managing my dogs, but otherwise these are “straight out of the camera” (1957 Yashica-Mat TLR).

Tonight at dinner a younger millennial couple took photos of their food with a disposable flash camera which, having used a few disposable flash cameras in my day, doesn’t seem like it would be the ideal medium to make food look appetizing?

Slightly sped up view of clouds forming over the summit of Mt Washington, with a very brief view is the summit at the end. This is from my drone, which was like 1400ft above where I was (but still legal based on topography, I promise)

Gotten more compliments and questions about this vintage (1957) Yashica-Mat I picked up in Quebec City a few days ago than any other thing I’ve ever owned in my life. Also, there is absolutely no better photographic sensory experience than taking a photo through a medium format viewfinder

4 nights in Acadia and all the driving around we did added up to 220 miles (we were staying about as far away from the main park area and Bar Harbor as one can get). Paid $17 in charging fees for all that. The nice thing about a slow-traffic island is that efficiency was extremely good at 4.7 mi/kWh

Two-week trip to Quebec/Maine via EV: Day 1: 430 miles = $0 in charging fees since I get free charging at Electrify America. The downside of EA is they often lack nearby bathrooms. The first half of tomorrow’s drive will also be $0 since our hotel has free Level 2 chargers
