He didn’t need to do that. The economy was really awful, and the Iranians had already made Carter look weak, and in the end he only won MN, GA, MD, DC, and RI. He got 41% of the popular vote.

You know what keeps me up at night? These two galaxies! I can't find any sort of catalog number for them, and they're just the sort of thing Arp would have cataloged. But he didn't.
