We never thought that our program would need a presence on the Labor & Delivery Ward. But the reality is that intrauterine demises (stillbirths) can be absolutely devastating to expecting patient. Being able to take away a memory box and/or footprint can bring them a small comfort.

The couple were world travelers, particularly loved nature & animals. Their favorite is the panda. We were so glad to provide his grieving wife this plush that contained the recording of her husband's heartbeat that was recorded before he died. She says: "I'll be listening it 'til the day I die"

The dying patient's son was turning 9 in a few days & had expressed that he was hoping to have his mother present at his party. Unfortunately, that wasn't going to happen. Instead, with his parents' permission, we had a small early birthday party for him in her room. Final #memories are precious.

He knew his time was near & when told about the #3WishesProgram, he requested what he called a "reverse funeral"--an occasion for his friends & family to gather, for him to hear their speeches about him, & eat his favorite foods. The patient's daughter told the healthcare team that her dying mom loved the beach. Without asking, @thanhneville.bsky.social made these "heartbeats in a bottle" for the patient's husband and daughter, and they loved it so much. Sometimes, small acts of #kindness can go a long way.

Not a heart transplant candidate, she was tired of an existence that depended on occasional defibrillation shocks and IV medications that restricted her to the CCU room. She requested that everything be turned off...after a final drink. This prosecco was her toast to life & eternity. #EOLcare

The patient wanted to die in Mexico, his home country, but it all happened so fast, that was impossible. A volunteer used her creativity & compassion to create these colorful decorations with tissue paper in the gift shop. Small gestures of #kindness can mean so much to grieving families.
