The list of players with the biggest adjustment for poor defense is just a list of Phillies and Reds. Above my pay grade, but it feels like B-Ref adjusts too hard for good Phillies pitchers. If you're a big strikeout guy, I imagine the park factor and defense doesn't really affect you so much.
B-Ref NL pitchers with largest defensive adjustment in their favor.

Not to speak for him but I looked into it a little more and yeah, B-Ref pitcher WAR is purely "runs allowed per 9" weighted against how many runs it expects them to have given up, based on their defense, park factor, and opponents.

A likeness comparison in Electronic Gaming Monthly U.S. 128, comparing the real Sammy Sosa to how he looks in Triple Play 2001. It's a little archaic looking nowadays.

We can probably retire the phrase "putting up video game numbers" now, if you listen to Dak Prescott talk about Ohtani. from: apnews.com/article/shoh...
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said Ohtani doesn’t really have any peers in the sporting world. He agreed that the three-homer, 10-strikeout game would be like an NFL quarterback throwing four touchdowns in a game and then also playing safety and grabbing two interceptions on defense in the playoffs.

“I’m a huge Ohtani fan,” Prescott said. “One is just, you can’t even do that on the video game. That’s what I always go to because I play ‘MLB The Show.’ I’m like, I’m trying to create a pitcher who can do both and I’m like, I don’t understand why they won’t let me do it when Shohei’s doing it.

“You go 10 strikeouts in six innings and 3 for 3 with three home runs and a walk? Bro, it’s amazing.”
