Snow is rare enough here that I can enjoy the beautiful hush of it. Sadly this will turn to freezing rain soon.

We have a great view of this rare event.

A little snowfall. State of emergency here, so time for oatmeal.

I thought this was a joke but no of course not.

I HATE the turning of the year. It fills me with both dread and ennui.

Once my mom read The Tell-Tale Heart to me as a bedtime story.

Just got back from Wicked. My family is really gonna hate that I can't sing.

Railway is such beautiful horror. I love the way Bang Chan expanded the meaning of the song with such an unexpected story. #kpop #straykids

Utter disaster trying to make Moravian spice cookies using online recipes. Finally found a pdf of the trusty Betty Crocker New Picture Cookbook of my childhood, and there was the much simpler recipe I remember. The nostalgia hit hard.

This is Puck, soaking up the love. I've been listening to I.N's Hallucination on repeat and watching gay Christmas movies with my daughter. I also spend some time looking obsessively at clothes I will never buy.

My mom once planned a road trip to visit every place Lincoln lived. That was awesome.

Had a particularly crappy day last week, being told everything I wasn't doing right during an eval - not a single good word. Then I got an email from an old student, "You have inspired me to embrace reading...." He included a poem written just for me. I'm tearing up just thinking about it.

I forgot to do an intro post. I'm an elementary school librarian. I'm relatively new to the job and love picking up ideas for new programming. I'm also a kpop fan and may flood my feed with music and pretty pictures. Any other kpop obsessed librarians out there? #tlbluesky

One of my students gifted me with a cold. How many teachers and other school employees spend their holidays recovering from "that bug" going around the school.

#KeepTheSkyClear Block and Mute every disingenuous, lying MAGA NAZI shithead you see on sight. Stop engaging with them. We don't owe them our time. Block/Mute and move on without a word. Pass it on. Keep The Sky Clear.

This week in my library: I start to suggest students look at some nonfiction books. The teacher responded. "No no no, the District wants us to focus on narrative." Testing has a stranglehold on reading.

Here is where my two interests connect: a second grader asked who my Stray Kids bias is.

Read this with some first-graders today. One little girl got very excited because she recognized mendhi and the traditional treats mentioned in the book. Actually, they were all pretty excited even if they had never heard of Diwali.

A safe place to hide from morons is a library or book store.
