Marnûkh… Uruk with a face that knows Rúmil? Hopefully Adar‘s legacy lives on in TROP season 3.

It makes more sense in this context. I really like the graphical style. Ergo… I decided to like the above depiction of Sauron with the ring.

Okay, someone please tell me that this is definitely Goth-Gil-galad. Because I’m seeing dead Uruk-Daddies and I hate being delulu 😭 My S2 Adar trauma is being reactivated… I hate it. Aarrrgh.

It's the anniversary of the day The Rings of Power introduced us to Sam Hazeldine and his mesmerising portrayal of Adar. Lives were changed. 🙌🖤

Sad Sam Hazeldine is a mood. But ‘Learning to Breathe’ is some extra dimensions of messed. The pay can’t have be been high enough to justify wrecking yourself and your relationship so your director could have his closure on something… and then that didn’t even happen because he burnt out on the way.

Sad Sam Hazeldine in Dan Turner’s dreary movie Learning to Breathe.

They’ve done him so wrong in this! Again 😑 Undeserved. Gosh Sam Hazeldine’s role choices border on self-hurt, and me watching that and sympathizing, too. I’m like, fictional people are you out of your minds treating that jewel of a man like a doormat? No, it is not okay!

Sam Hazeldine in The Innocents (2018). Getting badly hurt.

Sam Neill and Hugo Weaving doing an adaptation of “Herren im Bad” by Loriot (Victor von Bülow).🤣 Say the phrase: „Die Ente bleibt draußen Herr Müller-Lüdenscheidt“ 🦆 - and most German adults will know what you’re talking about. Don’t get me started on my love for Loriot - and Evelyn Hamann.

liveinfarbe @2o3d.bsky.social · 18/04/2025

Oh this is fantastic 🤣🤣🤣 it’s an adaptation of Loriot’s Herren im Bad. This sketch is like German cultural legacy humour. You pick two adult Germans from anywhere and chances are they will be able to strike up a conversation about a Loriot sketch, cartoon or movie. Likely the funniest German ever.

Some search results for the cartoon sketch “Herren im Bad” (1978) by Loriot (Victor von Bülow).

I expected The Innocents (2018) to be a mostly monothematic watch and it is. Thrilled though to see my Foundation babe Demerzel in this. Monotheme is playing a grumpy, melancholic Henley shirt rocking father figure who lives in pain. I love him.

Cherish dear and beloved Sam Hazeldine today — he’s been there done that: A curled cutie with a mic and attitude in the 1990s, he ditched theatre school. Later survived Midsomer County and left fictionally married. Was spotted in Bridget Jones. King of a double dozen B-movies that remain forgotten.

😩 Come on Payne/McKay, give him back to us!!! His end was terrible, soulsucking, ill-making. He needs to return in some form. Adar was the best character.

Morfydd Clark about Galadriel accepting her responsibility and being “very inspired” by Adar, who she thought was corrupted, awful, without redeemable qualities. Meeting him has “broadened her mind from black and white thinking.” #TheRingsOfPower

“She’s also grieving because he’s caused so much destruction. That grief [Galadriel] feels ends up being the thing that galvanizes her to say “no” because grief is loving.” ~ M. Clark This is about grieving Adar and the hope he represented. Sauron destroyed Adar, Celebrimbor and Finrod. #Adariel

Adariel is the feast you can truly appreciate after the poison has gone from your body and mind.

042

liveinfarbe @2o3d.bsky.social · 11/11/2024

Morfydd suggested Gil-galad should hold up the sword instead of Galadriel in the final s2 scene. A sign of Galadriel’s “growth”. She’d never gotten there without Adar. I see her resistance being enabled through her bond with him, on top of truly facing Elrond’s doubts and Celebrimbor’s regrets.

020

liveinfarbe @2o3d.bsky.social · 11/11/2024

McKay stresses that while Galadriel’s “tactically at a low moment” in Adar’s captivity, her step towards understanding Adar, her worst enemy, is “morally and emotionally” situated on her “arc of growth”. She’s “trying to find a new path.” So it’s essential for her character development.

121

liveinfarbe @2o3d.bsky.social · 07/11/2024

Payne talking about the radicalness of forgiveness, especially in a polarized 2024 climate, and fantasy being a place to “imaginatively engage” with the concept - mentioning explicitly Galadriel and Adar … But why butcher him a moment later? Are they saying forgiveness is fine, but futile 🤔

120

liveinfarbe @2o3d.bsky.social · 07/11/2024

And minute 33, McKay explains why Adar is a great villain (and in a way he calls into question that Orcs are actual descendants of his) and he likens Adar to the famous Hitchcock villain in “Notorious” that was “strong” and worked well because he was “understandable”.

120

liveinfarbe @2o3d.bsky.social · 07/11/2024

Adar haunting this interview continues… McKay saying Adar is Galadriel’s mirror and their interaction was the “inspiration for almost the entire show” 😭 Like, they’re at the HEART of it?? Why cut his arc short then?

220

liveinfarbe @2o3d.bsky.social · 30/10/2024

Yeah it’s a little convoluted. I don’t know why this strikes me. Perhaps my own experiences from when I was way younger 😁 and I’m just curious why they would make this movie but know I won’t get an answer. They also had a 20 year age gap. Also I wonder why their relationship wasn’t mentioned here

Sam Hazeldine being amused by his own joke is so funny in itself 😄 He’s been such a joy in and out of character this season and beyond. #TheRingsOfPower #MorfyddClark #Adar Lord-father of puns and outstanding main orctor.

They didn’t include it, but the Orc drinking blood from her shoulder is part of Galadriel’s vision. Yum. It would’ve been something. At least closure, you’re right 😁
