Overall, great remake! I am excited to try all the routes and missions. The route I took only lets you fight Star Wolf once at the very end but they seemed cool.

Let's see... what else... character designs are great but would prefer to go back to old ones if a new game is made. The data reports you can unlock are cool, always wanted to learn more about Katt and Bill's history. Umm, I think that's pretty much it for now.

I do like how it's this moment that humbles Fox and heals whatever trauma or resent he had against his dad, that was cool for character growth. But the way they make it play out, it definitely takes away ambiguity that James may be dead or alive. Not enitrely but... it's leaning more towards ghost.

music? I don't know how to explain it but I guess they wanted it to feel dream like? Make the player feel safe? And... this one will definitely come down to preference, I can see some people loving that. The music is beautiful too! But for me, I preferred it feeling tense still.

Because we had no visual idea what happened on venom. It's a double edged sword for sure because I do still think the prologue cut scene is cool. Anyway, back to that escape scene. The lead up to it does not feel as tense and the escape its self feels more safe. They play some... mystical sounding

For a moment, I need to back up a bit. I have seen a lot of others criticize the new prologue opening cut scene back when it was shown off. I was kinda meh on it originally, thought it was fine. But now after having seen the true ending... it really did take away a lot. It was more mysterious before

In the new fight, you just shoot the back of the case which feels kinda boring. The atmosphere does not feel as tense. And then... there's the escape sequence with James. His voice has this weird effect on it implying he may be a ghost more than alive. The ambiguous nature of the original is lost.

or to keep a low esrb rating but... the eyes are mechanical isnstead of organic looking and the brain is in a machine looking thing with glass encasing it. I do not like this change at all, personally. In the original, organic cells would come out of the brain. It was better, in my opinion.

Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
Which, yeah makes sense. But in the original it was in this ethereal like plan of existence. Once you beat base Andross you break the illusion and it looks more lab like. And then... there's the brain. I don't know if this was done to show off the graphics, to make it more realistic,

Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
He just feels like a boss character. Which is fine but... lost all his aura in my opinion. Speaking of which, the final battle its self does not have the same atmosphere. For better or worse, Andross just feels like a boss character as I said earlier. The final battle takes place in this lab.

Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
Andross has lost all intimidation points. The voice effect he had in the original and dialogue made him feel like this omnipresent being. He scared me as a kid (I was about 5-6) when he came through the comms. I don't think that would be the case in this version if I were 5 or 6.

Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
Again, not sure if that is because it's closer to the Japanese script or they wanna play it safer for a modern audience. The in between cut scenes are a great addition, really like seeing the team interact. Now... onto andross and the true ending.

I really wish Rob64 sounded like a robot still. It's jarring to hear him have so much emotion lol. From what I can tell, Falco is toned down. When I took one of his targets he complimented me which was weird. I think the most push back he gave me was "now you're just showing off".

Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
What I will say though is, the script definitely feels more safe. I have a lot of other routes to do still so I am not fully familiar with it all but from what I played, it all feels more safe and modern for sure. Again, not a bad thing per sè but... maybe they had to do it to secure an e10+ rating.

Now, onto the voice acting. I think the cast did a great job! The one liners definitely don't hit the same but I think that's ok. I am not familiar so I don't know if the translations are more accurate to the Jp script but the vibes are definitely different which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I know he was a bit more snarky in Adventures but that never really counted to me since Rare had control of Fox at that point. To me though, Fox was always a humble but cool hero type figure. But considering his age (something I never considered as a kid), they got it a bit more right in this game.

Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 26/06/2026
So, first off, I was a little disappointed by how Fox acted a little too cocky and even slandered his dad a bit. Thankfully, I did the true ending play through first so I got to see Fox kind of come around on hia dad and become a little more level headed. I like that character development!

It will get a bit spoiler-y for those that haven't played the original and those that haven't played through the new game so fair warning! On to the deeper thoughts!

Got the new Star Fox and played through it last night doing the 'hard' route getting the true ending. I have lots of thoughts but just some things off the top my head, it's really good! The music and graphics are fantastic. I love that the gameplay is exactly the same save for the true final boss.

I'm not saying they need to bring them back, just saying I think we were all too harsh on HMs... and when you look at old RPGs those elements for exploration existed so it was not unique to Pokemon.
000
Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
What I liked about having HMs on my team this playthrough was that it really made it feel like my team helped me explore and weren't just used for battling. They had more presence. If you just stick most of the HMs on a 'Mon to use the HM then box it, it feels more annoying and takes away from that.

Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
Having all of those field moves really made exploring and going through Kanto a breeze and never hindered my game progression. Would I ever have those moves on a competitive team? Heck no lol. But for an in game team, I think we were too harsh on HMs. Maybe it was just us being kids?

Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 17/06/2026
In hindsight, HMs really aren't all that bad. My Venusaur has Cut, my Pikachu has Flash, my Wigglytuff has Strength, my Slowbro and Farfetch'd have Surf and Fly, respectively (which no one complains about those 2 anyway) and, though not an HM, my Sandslash has dig. Dig was actually so cool to have!

So I wanted the true OG Experience™️ lol. I really enjoyed it and decided to build a team with some Pokemon I never would have used as a kid but really liked (farfetch'd has always been one of my faves). I also beat the E4 under leveled to make it feel like a true underdog experience.

I have beat the Elite 4 in Pokemon Green on an original Gameboy! Have always wanted to play Pokemon Green ever since I was 5 and learned about it then. I've had the game for a while but never made time to play it until now. used an original Gameboy as I only had a Gameboy Color during red and blue.

I can already imagine someone just clicks 'Add heart to all' or whatever and there's some messed up comments on there and suddenly everyone just thinks the creator endorses whatever messed up thing the person/people said

Old marketing tactics don't work in today's social media landscape. The expectations are so different from 15-25 years ago. The majority of companies show everything out the gate nowadays. Nintendo is just behind the times as usual.

The 3DS version of OoT was definitely a rehash, this has so many possibilities of being similar but a new thing. Like with Final Fantasy 7's remake. I'm not saying it will, but neither of us can write it off as a pure rehash or as a true remake as of right now. And therein lies the problem.
100
Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 11/06/2026
That's perfectly fine. It is acceptable that people can be upset that a game isn't turning out (artistically) the way they wanted it to but those options (64, 3DS) will always exist to play in those formats. As far as 'rehashing' it is definitely way too soon to throw that word around for this.
100
Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 11/06/2026
One more thing I wanna add is, if they had revealed the remake in this same fashion 15 years ago, the internet would have exploded for sure and we'd see sooo much speculation everywhere about how they could make the game fit better into the established timeline, esp if developed along side SS.
000
Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 11/06/2026
Even then, it is still odd. I've seen people saying that we had an OoT remake on 3DS already. But that was just the game made in higher quality 3D. It was still the exact same game. This is a proper remake from the ground up it seems so I am very excited to see how they will add to it!

Most of the hate may just be for the sake of just hating or being contrarian. Things like rage bait and being a hater are still getting clicks sadly. And it's still cool to hate Nintendo because they are 'evil'. Beyond that though, it is weird even still. I think once we get gameplay hype will build

I was very fortunate and got the Gameboy inspired Pikachu plushie and really love it! I just recently started playing Pokemon Green before the plush was released here so the timing was perfect!
GAMEBOY styled Pikachu plush along with my Gameboy, playing Pokemon Green with the status screen of my Pikachu, Sparky.

When I was 5, Mario Golf (64) came out and when I played it for the first time and saw Baby Mario, I thought he was the son of Peach and Mario since I didn't know Yoshi's Island existed. So I had this head canon that Peach and Mario were just raising a baby after Mario 64.

I want to play Rocket Robot on Wheels again but the problem is I haven't played it since I was 8 so I'm afraid it won't be as good as I remember it. The ost is fun at least. youtu.be/PeiXI3GYKOw?...

...but that's only because Mario is so reliant on FLUDD. The long jump was taken away so I bet if that were possible to do, those stages would become easier to an extent. Beating the game is easy. 100%ing it is a challenge though, I admit. But not everyone wants to 100% a game to begin with. (2/2)
010
Scott @2dblur.bsky.social · 20/12/2024
Very interesting that many, including Miyamoto, think Sunshine is a hard game. I remember reading and thinking the opposite as a kid. Fludd basically made the game a cake walk. He does go on about the stages where fludd is taken away and that's when it becomes a bit difficult.... (1/2)
