I’m on Meta products again. 😑 The adults in this country are at a 6th grade reading level. They need help understanding what’s happening. It shouldn’t have been 24 hours for someone to drop actual information about this farm policy in the comments.

I am proud to co-sponsor legislation to preserve the stepped-up basis tax provision which protects the generational transfer of family farms by preventing folks from being crushed by high capital gains taxes on inherited assets such as land and equipment.

Me: Hi folks, here’s the truth about this policy. It only benefits the wealthy. “Over 95% of Idaho farms are family-owned,” is just something honest he could say.

In 2017 there were only 50 farms who paid any inheritance taxes. These taxes are for farms with assets over $13.6 million for single people and $27.2 for married people in 2024.

Inheritance taxes are only applied after that threshold, the first 13 or 27 million face no taxes.

Russ is giving kickbacks to the wealthiest farmers while Elon Musk guts resources actual small farmers need to have a farm to pass down to their kids.
