This is my new mantra.

Beautiful. I wish we did more to not ever harm as well as to unharm our neighbors on this lovely, complex planet. Do what you can when you can. ❤️❤️❤️

Just read through a great post by commonslibrary.org/10-things-yo... This. At least hold onto this:

A screenshot of the included blog post. Partial text: you know it is a coup when 1) the gov stops counting votes, 2) certifies a winner who did not get the most votes, 3) allows someone to stay in power who didn’t win the election

I am sick at most of what the current admin and dick - potato are doing. This makes me soooo heavy with fierce anger, deep sadness, fear, despair, and horror. This morning I am broken by the selfish, uncaring people of this world…and all the powers we have gifted them.

Yes! Education that teaches all of history AND teaches the skills in thinking, reflecting, and testing ideas out. Instead of click-bait content and defensiveness as a strategies for popularity and excellence (hah).

#grokgreen 3/3 There are options. So many. - Use glass, metal, and wood in the kitchen. - Buy toys that are wood or paper (or anything but #plastic). - Wear clothes of wool, linen, cotton, reused. Make a tiny change. And then another. And #recycle this shameful, plastic-crap full mailer.

The cover of Amazon’s shameful plastic-loaded “kids gift book”. Received without me wanting it at all.

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

#grokgreen 2/ Read “The Problem with Plastic” by @judithenck.bsky.social - realize there is no “safe” plastic. - Burning it = more CO2 than not. - Forever chemicals like #PFAS are killing us and our children. - And it’s an excuse for #fossilfuel companies to mine more and make $$ in death.

000

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

#grokgreen 1/ This one inspired by #amazon, truly. #plastic I once thought plastic was ok if used in long-lived things, such as insulation in buildings (foam). Maybe recycled into plastic and wood composites. Or waste-to fuel might be ok at a last resort… But the reality is:

000

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

I totally agree. It’s like “yeah, we see you working your butt off to align with nature” and “yeah we hear workers are people, too, with families, and health needs” but “hey - how about some awesome cheap plastic crap to entertain your kids or grandkids so you don’t have to talk to them.”

000

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Sigh. Everything #plastic a kid could want to be poisoned by. And in plenty of time to get for gift-giving season, especially with #instantgratification delivery despite the environmental and worker cost burdens. Yes, I am grumpy.

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Think about this. Struggling, can’t breathe, hurting, scraped arms. I would kick and yell and resist too! This is not someone resisting authority. This is someone resisting pain and abuse.

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

Yes! Let’s make THIS normal. Get people to the polls. Hoorah! Representation means everyone, and our systems make it too hard for so many to VOTE! Let’s get this done!

000

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

2/2 #grokgreen My take is that #climatechange is actually happening FOR us (not to us). It is #Nature schooling us about her limits and her potential. We need to learn to work with her to succeed and prosper. So, what have you learned, lately, from our incredibly knowledgeable Mother Earth?

020

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 07/10/2026

#grokgreen 1/ This one is heavy - #climatechange It is about shifts in trends. Over a period of time the average temp if the planet is slowly increasing. Some places may be cooler, though, which is confusing. In NYS, by 2079, we expect to normally have the temps of Georgia. And much > rainfall.

010

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

#grokgreen More on pervious surfaces and benefits. We (UpstateNY) have a pervious asphalt driveway. It cost about 10% more 8 years ago. It reduced basement flooding and is lasting great. We use our leaf blower in reverse 2x a year to clean it. Less shoveling in the winter, no $ on salt or sand.

010

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

#grokgreen “Pervious” - #water can flow through. Most concrete, asphalt, pavers, and hard packed soil is impervious. The rainfall runs off, and never soaks into the soil. A complete cycle means water gets into the soil and is filtered naturally. This helps #soil quality and #aquifer resilience.

000

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

#grokgreen This impacts EVERYONE in cities. #UHI - Urban Heat Island impact. Dark surfaces and impervious areas (no water can drain) + lack of plants to help transpire water to air, raise the ambient temp in cities 15-20 degrees. Plants, lighter colors, pervious hard surfaces, are all a benefit.

001

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

2/2 A 4” wood stud wall (16” on center studs) with R-21 batt insulation actually performs at R-7.35 because the studs are so much worse at restricting heat loss. And metal studs are significantly worse. Building envelopes matter - for #energy, #carbon, #durabiliy, #comfort, #cost, #resilience.

010

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

#grokgreen 1/ Just saw a post about insulation. “R -value” is the resistance to heat transfer through materials. Often used 4 insulation: energy code “prescriptive” method dictates only insulation performance (so far). But insulation is used in walls with studs (wood or metal) which have crappy Rs.

#grokgreen RECs (renewable energy credits) track the production and use. RECs can be a carbon offset strategy. RECs can be falsely sold while the electricity is used by the owner of the panels. Also some RECs are “outdated”. The best RECs are 3rd party certified and invest in NEW production.

011

Jodi @2bgreener.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

“Renewable energy”, often abbreviated as RE, usually refers to energy produced by wind, sun, or wave actions. Some policy language says geo-thermal (heat exchange from the earth) is RE, but that (and other sources) is debated. RE does not burn fuel, though production of the components often does.

Someone drove down our street a month ago, at 9pm, and dumped a sweet little 6 month old black kitten on the street. My husband jumped up, ran, and scooped him up. Instant bond. Love. Totally claimed by a kitten who said his name is Symon.

“Decarbonization”. In buildings and in policy, this is about #electrifying the existing systems. Reducing #energy use, then replacing heating and cooling as well as cooking(!) with electric systems. Electricity can transition to all renewable sources, over time. Fossil fuel can’t. #grokgreen

First - “energy efficiency” in #buildings is for reducing energy WASTE. It is not about restriction or sacrifice! It is about supporting #comfort and #health in buildings while reducing money waste and use of #energy while it is not needed. I like to use “optimization” or “effectiveness” more.
