My dear friend’s niece, who in October developed sepsis when a Georgia hospital refused her a D&C after a miscarriage, will be taken off life support tomorrow. I don’t know the names of the countless others who have suffered and will suffered because of anti-abortion laws. But her name was Haley.

How says they are? Trump claiming someone is a member doesn’t make it true. They have a right to defend themselves in court. If that didn’t exist then Trump could claim anyone he wants to get rid of is a member. That’s how fascist authoritarian governments operate, not democracies.

A federal judge does have authority to rule on the legality of federal actions. If they didn’t then we wouldn’t have any law at all, only the wishes of a dictator. The Constitution is very clear on the separation of powers to limit any single branch, and it is the highest law, not the President.

I don’t believe we need a fascist authoritarian that can make or ignore laws as they wish. I believe in a democracy where laws are created through a democratic process. That is the role of Congress. The President’s role is to faithfully execute on those Congressionally passed laws.

“Open borders” is right wing propaganda. We do control immigration allocation by country and we do have laws to deport people not here legally. I agree we need to take better care of our citizens, however that failure isn’t because of undocumented immigrants, they’re a net +, not drain.

Yes, I agree it would be better to have more immigration judges. That decision is made by Congress allocating funding for them. Judges aren’t overstepping their positions. Their job is to rule on the legality of actions, including the Executive and Legislative branch. Trump can’t just create laws.

Many also are awaiting court dates, or pending decision. It’s a common way for authoritarian leaders to blame all problems on the poorest and most vulnerable, generating hate against “others” and using it as an excuse to gain more power. This is exactly what is happening.

Most undocumented immigrants don’t enter illegally. They enter legally through legal ports of entry, and overstay their visa, or work permit. The vast majority of these are not criminal acts, but civil violations. The narrative Trump and the GOP promote is that they are “criminals” which they aren’t
