Oh no, Glen Powell's films are flopping, how can studios possibly find another Glen Powell... other than by walking into literally any random acting class and going 'yeah, he'll do'?

While everyone's watching the new Carrie series on Prime, it's worth noting that the underseen and very interesting 2002 TV movie is also free to watch there/ Doesn't ALL work, but Angela Bettis and Patricia Clarkson are great in it.

Need to find a BIG horror blindspot to tick off, because I'm currently at 8996 films logged at Letterboxd, and I want something significant as No. 9000. I DO have the 4K of Don't Look Now, and that would be a first watch.

There are people I struggle with. Radha Mitchell has done quite a few Christian adjacent movies, as well as the first Run Hide Fight (bought after the fact by DW), and I'm a huge fan of her work. Jackie Chan is a piece of shit (look up the story about his daughter) and I still watch his stuff...

Stuff like this is why I try very hard to be a fan of people's work, without assuming anything about them as a person. If you don't heroise someone, you can just very easily say, 'oh, fuck them' when they do something like this.

I won't do it SOON, but I'm interested in a second playthrough as a Mage, for a different play style, and there are more than enough dialogue and plot choice options to change the characterisation, so it shouldn't get stale.

Just finished the penultimate chapter of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Looking forward to wrapping the game up (in that I want to see the end of the story). My only major complaint is some clunky writing around one character's identity (I'm fully on board for the story, but it's very broadly written)

This is mad, because the thing that makes Snyder's one and only good film - Dawn of the Dead - good in the first place is that it takes the original simply as a premise and structure, and then does mostly its own thing.

Best case scenario, in using AI to 'streamline' certain processes, he's cutting several people out of jobs while paying himself millions of dollars. So fuck him.

Not everyone has to want to win, but Matt and Richard barely seem like they want to play at all, and Nina, while she's lucking out sometimes, only seems about 50% engaged. If nothing else, Taskmaster is a process you just have to surrender to, and I feel like only Chloe has REALLY done that here.

Every time I think he's running out of ideas, Alex pulls out some great stuff for the following series, but inspiration wise the well feels so dry this time, but how much is that the tasks and how much is the disinterested feel of the cast?
100
Sam Inglis @24fpsuk.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Another rubbish Taskmaster today. Hide and seek; a very basic memory test, and an overcomplicated version of the S4 classic exotic sandwich task. I'm done with this series. I'm just not clicking with any of the cast, and it seems they're not clicking with each other either.

I can see why they've gone for this category, but what the Globes really need is a Horror/Sci-Fi category. There are are enough films each year to warrant it, and then they'd act least be CLOSER to covering all genres.

That's a bold take on Zeppelin there. The first album is great, but II is a big step up for me, and then III and IV bring a lot of new ideas to the table.

It's got real series 6 vibes for me: a bunch of people who don't gel as a cast, and some serious writer's block from Alex. With THIS cast, I suspect Nina, Isy and Chole would have been better in other series', but the vibe and the tasks are keeping them from being their best.

Sam Inglis @24fpsuk.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
It's weird mix of feeling like the cast doesn't get on that well (Isy and Nina apart), and that they're being too polite, so the studio stuff is mostly tense rather than letting them bounce off each other. It also BADLY needs a total nutter - a Jason; a Lucy; a Sally; a Rhod - to shake things up

Sam Inglis @24fpsuk.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Not just you. Last week was the best episode so far, but even then. It's just not a good mix. Richard staying in character is tiresome, Matt just doesn't seem interested and the others are incredibly hit and miss. A lot of weak tasks too.

I know a lot of people have this down as one of Band Maid's best... This is EASILY the best version I've heard, but I still don't love it. It just feels messy to me, like Kanami's scribbling, rather than drawing the pictures she usually does inn her compositions.

I dipped into the game before, but I'm finding the Rogue the most fun to play; you can do some distance work in combat, but also move super fast in close quarters. There's also a VERY useful skill early on that helps with bosses, because minions become an easy way to charge your 'ultimate' attack.

Sam Inglis @24fpsuk.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Is it the greatest narrative in gaming? Probably not, but it's got a nice balance of lightness and stakes, and I'm finding the quests to be a decent mix of big fights and more story and character led stuff, which makes exploring the world entertaining. Screw the anti-woke criticism, as ever.
