With the fragmentation of social media I've felt the need to develop what feel like primitive methods for following people - not native follow, or even RSS, but just a list of links to be checked at need. Manual, tedious, slow - but also highly resilient.

Bonus advice: refuse any 2000y notes money changers give you! Especially Americans may like them as they feel like 20USD bills, but they are rare and many Japanese people have never seen them, so you may be unable to spend them. There is no stigma against large bills in Japan.

But what happens if I don't use up the money on the card? → It's easy to refund the balance. Tourist cards (airport only, no deposit) are only good for 28 days, but normal cards are good for 10 years. Also you can use it at any convenience store and most shops that take credit cards.

Can't I just buy tickets as needed? → Ticket prices are in 10y increments based on distance. Can you read this map (no English!) and calculate your ticket price? How long will that take you while everyone else just walked through the gate and tapped? Also good luck with transfers!

Common objections: But I'm only here a week! → It's a payment system, not a subscription. It requires no personal info and a 500y (~3USD) deposit that's easy to refund. But I have a JR pass / other special ticket! → Riding only JR trains, or only trains on any particular ticket isn't feasible.

With Tokyo Game Show next month a lot of people will be visiting Japan. If you're coming in, please get a train IC card - Suica or Pasmo, doesn't matter. I promise any doubts or objections you have are irrelevant.

これは王子に見つけたまた別の変異種で、特定の名前がないようです。ドクダミの白い部分は植物学的に花弁ではなく葉らしいので、この変異種でその正体が現れています。

The sculpted key art from my fake Famicom game Basilisk. This was my last entry into the Famicase Exhibition back in 2021. I wanted to do something that felt like it really came from the Famicom era. Something like the cover of Eggerland. I did a few digital touch ups since I was winging it!
