How many times have we heard something like this and it's always turned out to be bull

Zelenskyy: "Prices are rising because of the war in the Middle East, the blocking of Hormuz. Everyone understands it. If we want to speak with people fairly, if we want to be clear, if we want to speak with our nations openly, people have to hear reality. Don't play games with people."

The fact that we knew about it and didn't really appear to do anything about it is troubling. This is another reason why I find the actions of the SNP troubling given the circumstances. Putin would love to see the UK broken up and he would naturally seek to interfere in it

I would suggest that your problems will only just be starting. Do you think Trump will accept the results? Not a chance

The stupidity of trump's actions in general should shame the British politicians who support him. But sadly they will continue to do so. But then how many of them would willingly abandon Ukraine

It would be impossible for Europe or even NATO to close the skies over Ukraine without the war escalating further. There are not enough patriots or other anti drone/missle defences available

Brexit was never going to work out for the UK and Johnson likely knew that. There will be many sacrifices you could say but we would benefit substantially. The question of sovereignty irritates me heavily because it's based on lies. In so many areas we and the EU could benefit substantially

The debate never went away despite certain people wanting it too. The democratic will argument was always very poor, the only reason that Farage said a 2bd referendum could not happen was because leave would lose. That isn't a democratic argument to put it mildly

The problem for the Tories is that they won't learn from why they lost in the first place. Their continued lean to the right won't help them

The fact that we are such an unserious country is simply ridiculous. The idea that anyone thinks that it's a good idea to reduce taxes and cut spending days an awful lot about who we are

The fact that he created a.bomb and used it with no regard for anyone is quite telling. A long sentence is extremely we justified

Sadly this response was fully expected. From the moment I heard about it I thought it would only be minutes before the usual suspects say something. And you just have to look at Trump's government response as well all fixated on one assumption
001
207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
The problem is that most serious politicians want to fix it but won't do much about it because of the political cost. And naturally because they want to take advantage of the situation and portray the other as being evil

He is the problem along with so many others sadly. There are some serious potential flash points in the future of this country. The next GE and whether there is another Brexit reference. And to top it off the likelihood of extreme right wing violence as a result of an unexpected event

The entire region has been destabilised by trump's idiocy. And we do not know what will happen because of it

207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Trump's approach to the conflict is perplexing and extremely inconsistent. But this is certainly a step too far to put it mildly. He has missed an opportunity to actually help Ukraine

It's probably going to happen the closer we get to the ect election as the issue isn't going away. The dangerous thing is that the debate and campaign will be painfully messy and extremely violent
020
207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
What far too many pro EU people forget is that any campaign to join the EU again will be incredibly dangerous. Rushing it will only make things worse. Given how messed up reform etc are getting there supporters I fully expect it would get very messy and I do think some people would get killed

Can someone tell me why so many so called veterans are behaving more like the SS or SA. Calling for people crossing the channel to be killed and yet we're told we must unconditionally respect veterans no matter what

207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 20/09/2026
There isn't enough push back in general at the moment. Between, MPs, journalists etc.. saying we should push boats back, send people back to France, leave people to drown and even recently a former soldier told me we should kill these people.

The stupid thing is when you look at America's potential they could do significantly more for themselves and for others and it wouldn't really be all that hard. Americas biggest enemy is and always has been itself

Regardless of what happened it's not wise to be doing this. I'm not even comfortable with Israel having F35's

While it would be wise to reduce our involvement in such issues, without knowing details can we. As for reparations that is something that could only come in the future with a stable country. At the moment it seems to be a regional violent playground

207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
It was very disturbing seeing how he was recently and even his decline over the years. It's not a good thing to see and you have to ask why it's really allowed to happen
000
207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
We are probably one or two incidents away from something bad happening. There are too many people who are far too willing to commit acts of extreme violence including killing people. All the while you have Farage etc.. egging it all on
000
207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
It is extremely disturbing. Too many have been worked up by anti immigrant and asylum seeker fever. In too many places I am seeing people calling for killings, mass deportations and basic violence. And too many people just don't see the danger ahead
000
207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
It is painful to see how far the UK has fallen when almost on a daily basis now people are actively calling for the killing of people they don't know just because of the colour of their skin or where they've come from. It's really disturbing
000
207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
This sounds like something the UK should have tried before we settled on the TCA though given Johnson's etc.. behaviour it wouldn't have been overly likely. Now? Maybe but we'd have to see as pressure is starting to mount on the government to be significantly more positive

There is significant pressure on labour that they won't be able to ignore. While it might appear to be a cop out they could call for a referendum without breaking their manifesto

Hospitality is sometimes a bit of a paradox. I'll give you an example I went out for food a while back in London, my main and dessert for me, my wife and son was £130, after offers it was £70. I used to work in places where this occurred, places can often lower their prices but choose not to

The problem is that far too many are extremely narrow minded. A few weeks ago I had a "discussion" with a couple of people who said they ran pubs and said it would be great though they provided no facts. Instead they were extremely abusive, the problem is that they think this is an easy fix
000
207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 12/09/2026
Too often the approach is to do what will play better with the public. The trouble is like with many issues people don't want to listen or think so we get stuck doing very little

The Americans, not just Trump but mainly, got themselves into a serious mess. They wouldn't give Ukraine what it needed to defend itself properly and now Trump is doing so much worse than Biden did. I don't know how this war ends but it won't be giving into Putin's demands

There are so many questions and we need to get to the bottom of the situation. The political culture of the country needs a reset there are too many fundamental problems with how things are at the moment

Yes and no. One of the things that May did do was not to act stupidly in some areas when she took over. She did act poorly over all

When it comes to many countries the relationship with the EU full membership or membership of the EEA might be preferable. For Iceland, Norway etc . But for saying the UK both would work, though we can't join the EEA I think, but full membership would be better

The funny thing about it is that COVID actually exposed it quicker than it normally would have. The issue about a sudden collapse though isn't exactly right, in a no deal Brexit we could very well have seen a collapse due to Johnson's incompetence

When you look back at the events since the financial crisis far too many of our problems are self inflicted. Austerity, Johnson, Truss, Brexit etc... we would be significantly better off if we hadn't have had many of those self imposed injuries

207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
While it might be unconstructive to blame Thatcher her government was a serious wrong turn as we sold off virtually all our public utilities. Now they actually do know what to do to get growth back but as I've said before the debate is violently toxic

Trump has almost ditched every friendship America may have had previously. We should certainly be looking for more stable allies

It isn't that surprising though. People are very quick to forget history. Just look at the UK, France, Italy and America as well as others. Too often people will vote against their own interests and for cruelty
000
207michael.bsky.social @207michael.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
The entire problem is that too many people in general, not just the media, have a very painfully lazy attitude to the justice system. People want to put people in jail but not deal with actual issues. You could put a coherent plan together but the media and people would likely reject it

I think many people, including myself, underestimated the influence of the mad part of the Tory party would get over the rest, Mogg Vs people like Stewart. The problem currently is that the debate is that it is still painfully charged. Any attempt to join the EU would be met with violence

When it comes to the impact on the UK it could encourage labour etc.. to be more pro-active. I am being very cautious because I feel that any further referendum in the UK would face substantial opposition and an awful lot of violence from extremist brexiteers and leave voters.

Of course it's dangerous but many people do that on purpose because they really don't understand the danger
