Safehouses are a powerful asset, would be a shame if it was raided by that Faction you just ripped off ;)

There's over 50 pages of tables and procedures in Chromatic Shadows Core, and also downtime phase mechanics where you can start a street business, found a gang, and build a safehouse! #occult #cyberpunk #horror #ttrpg #scifi #kickstarter 🔗👇

When it comes to running "cyberpunk heists" how do you manage things procedurally? Chromatic Shadows uses a "mission phase" structure to guide the players through a series of questions and criteria. The tools exist to minimize GM handholding and empower the players to steer the course of action.

121

Kris H. @1matrixghost.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

The procedural tools in Chromatic Shadows are significant. Build a campaign web, add factional conflicts, NPCs, rolled zones and sites. Drop in procedurally created occult assets. Roll a "weird sprawl event" as an inciting incident. String it all together. Let loose in the weird haunted sprawl.

What I mean when I say Chromatic Shadows is #occult #cyberpunk.

064

Kris H. @1matrixghost.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

The primary appeal of Chromatic Shadows for a lot of folks seems to be that it does "bucket o'dice" Shadowrun-style gameplay with cleaner, more streamlined mechanics. And for those that don't want elf-flavored cyberpunk, it trades fantasy for high strangeness & cosmic horror. #occult #cyberpunk

For the Calyx curious. Here's a few spreads from the zine.

The G+ years felt a lot like graduate art school. The whole scene was feverishly creative and competitive, and punk, and no one was making any money. Just writers and bloggers expanding minds and pushing the whole hobby forward (not just the OSR) in profound ways. The work speaks for itself.

Jumping back into OSE which also means revisiting my Land of Calyx psychedelic fantasy setting. It's a pretty cool zine! 🔗👇

Chromatic Shadows keeping some good company over at the Gunks Gaming Guild, New Paltz NY.

Kris H. @1matrixghost.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

In Chromatic Shadows, hypercapitalism is a totalizing horizon, but its internal contradictions can't be fully contained. The Outside ruptures through at the fringe. Hauntology manifests the "weird" as cosmic horror and the numinous.

Kris H. @1matrixghost.bsky.social · 21/06/2026

Printed our this Chaos Scar collection months ago, finally getting some good use out of it with my 5e group. These 4e adventures port remarkably well over to 5th. Just a few mechanical tweaks, and they practically run themselves.
